Last week we were getting partial rings, but we believe most afaxes were wtill coming through. I unplugged the machine and the missing faxes, etc, came through. Yesterday it rang, but no faxes came through. Today, it isn't ringing. We have a seperate line for the fax. I have tried to "reset" it. When I pick up the phone on the fax, I hear nothing. I tried picking it up and pushing "start." it says receiving but eventually goes back to the same "air" sound. Please help!!! It isn't even ringing now!

Just for our knowledge base, in case anyone else has this problem - it turned out to be a short in the phone line. When picking up the handset connected to the fax machine, there was no dial tone. When connecting the fax machine to another phone line, the dial tone returned. After swapping out the phone cord between the wall and the fax machine to be sure that wasn't the problem, Jriedel is now talking to the phone company about it.

From everything that I've seen I don't see any way to tim stamp incoming faxes. Almost all fax machines should automatically time stamp outgoing faxes unless the user has removed that function for some reason. If you are getting faxes from people that don't include time stamps than the next best thing is to use the journaling feature. The 2820 can print a journal of past incoming faxes that will include timestamps of the past faxes recieved in either 6,12,24 hour or 2, 7 day intervals. The default is every 50 faxes. To change the settings:
Press Menu/Set, 2,4,2
2. Journal Period
Use Arrows to choose an interval
Remove drum unit. in front of the toner cart. there is ether a green or blue slide lever. move the slide 10-15 times back and forth. make sher the slide is all the way over to one side. reinstall drum & make a copie. hope this works.
Can you make a copy and get a good print? Does the blank pages come from different people? If you still get a blank from making a copy, then try a different toner and or drum unit. Hopefully it is still under warranty.
