I just wiped clean my acer aspire 3680 laptop and installed XP Pro, but the DVD drive doesn't play dvds... what can i do to fix this problem, i could not find any type of drivers online in my search. Any suggestions?
Solution 1. Restore or update your DVD drive driver.
Solution 2. Perform the DVD drive reinstallation.
Solution 3. Enable the DVD drive after disabling.

Why is My DVD Drive Not Reading DVDs
Windows XP doesn't come with the proper codecs to play DVD movies by default. You either need to buy a program with the codecs, or pay Microsoft for them. What I've found works best is to download the trial of WinDVD. It installs the needed codecs and you don't even need to use the program. So after you install it just use whatever program you originally wanted to use and you should be set.
(The older versions od WinDVD could be uninstalled while leaving the codecs behind, but the new version seems to remove them after uninstalling, so you'll want to leave it on the computer)
Hope that helps :)
