I dropped my v3m in the toilet a couple of weeks ago and so I took it apart and let it dry. The phone is working fine now with the exception of the backlight on both screens. If I hold the phone in the sunlight I can see the icons well enough to use the phone. Do I need to replace the LCD screens for the backlight to work again or is there a way to only replace the backlight?
I had the same accident with another phone make and model. I
replaced the battery and it worked fine. I figured this out
because my husband had the same kind of phone. When his phone had
my battery it would not work. When my phone had his battery it
worked just find. Fortunately, my carrier had a spare battery and
gave it to me.

Before you give you on the drowned Razor, try wrapping it in plastic wrap and put it in a warm dry place for a couple days. It will work enough to at least get your numbers off to transfer them to another phone. I have actually had one work fine after doing this. I didn't even have to replace it.
I had a friend who had a razor and it did the same thing, what she would do (and only sometimes this would work) is she would close it as fast and hard as she could and it would fix itself, but eventually it got bad enough to where she had to get a new phone...
The Motorola V3m has a light sensor, which is visible just above the right soft key -- the key above the CLR button. This light sensor turns the backlight on when you press a key in the dark and disables the keypad backlight when you are in a well-lit area.
Your phone sounds like it's operating normally. I believe they disabled the option to activate or deactivate that feature.
I would suggest the Motorola RAZR. It is a good phone. On average a good battery will last a couple of days without charge but that's only from experience. I have one just like it. The picture quality is great and I have never had any problems with the bluetooth.
