bad battery
or weak battery
or simply discharged so charge it up by hand with car battery charger.
jumper cable start the car.(engine)
2008 car the BCM and PCM are going nuts, with battery week;
bad ruster battery lugs all 4 end or more if 2 batteries on diesel
clean all lugs first.
then Jump start it, if will not start
surely do you have crazy remote starter on car.?
Connected to the battery cover is a switch, stopping all activity, and switching off the camera, when the door is opened. At least that is how it should function.
This is to avoid the camera accessing the memory, while the battery is pulled out. This could damage all pictures already on the memory card.
So when the door is closed and the camera is not starting, it could imply something is pressing to hard on the "safety" switch.
Try to find out what changed in or around the battery door. Try to find out where the switch is and why it is acting strange.
Like some debris where it should not be at something came lose.
When your camera acts crazy, remove the battery , and after a few moments reinsert it. If the problem returns, there could be a more serious problem, that I can't solve, unless you have more information, about whet the camera does. Like giving a message on the screen, or some beeps, anything.
With the battery in, use a small paperclip and stick it in the hole next to the battery compartment. This is a reset button. If that does not work, close the battery cover and give a good medium smack against your leg. I know that sounds crazy but it works about 9 times out of ten with the HP cameras.
If you have a warranty that covers dropping, send it in. If not try contacting Canon, go to this link and plug in your information. http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=224&modelid=12913
if you suspect humidity :
try this :
This works on most mini electronic devices like cellular phones and degital cameras etc .
it sounds crazy .
Remove the back (or Cover ) of the phone( or Camera ), battery, and SIM if your phone ( or Device ) uses one , DIRECTLY
.
Then, with a q-tip (or something similar), dab the connection points (shiny, goldish) on the battery, SIM, and phone. This should aid in drying.
Finally, place all contents in a bag of uncooked rice (separately, do not put back together just yet). it sounds crazy , but it draws the moisture out.
It normally is working after just 7-8 hours, but I would wait 12 hours or even 24 hours before attempting to use (just to be sure).
beware the water damage, despite being dry now, will void any warranties. Also, the phone's hardware is now weakened and if you drop it, the green mother board and circuitry could shatter - so be more careful.
This does work on electronic devices aside from phones as well. Simply tailor it to your device. If you do not have a SIM (Verizon phones, cameras, all others), remove only the battery. If you have an iPhone/iPod or GPS and cannot remove the battery, simply make sure it is all the way off, then put it in the rice bag. All electronic devices react the same to the rice trick.

i have the exact same camera as you.. i had the exact same problem as you did too..i got so mad this worked for me, so i think it will work for you 1.take the batteries out of the camera 2.hold the power button for 30 seconds 3.let go of the power button, and wait 1 minute 4.stick the batteries back in 5.turn the power on, and it should stop acting crazy if this helped, great
