I have a Whirlpool ultima Care II top loader and the agitator does not turn forcefully as it should. It kinda moves a bit and jerks a bit but not like normal. If during the wash cycle I hold my hand on the top where you put the fab softner and apply pressure/push downlike on it..and kinda push it forward a bit...during the cycle it spins much better??? have tried nothing else. Can you help?
thanks
Ms. Lee
Sounds like the spline is stripped on the agitator take the bolt out of the center of the agitator remove the agitator and visually inspect the splines let me know if this works

check the motor coupling,if the coupling is broken you'll hear the motor run but the agitiator won't move and no spin, the coupling connects the motor to the transmission.watch this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9K1KHEogf3c
Hi Sherrie,
There is a service manual located inside the front left side of the cabinet.I find it easier to turn the washer on it's back and then reach up in the cabinet to get it.Hope this Helps !
yes, sounds like your agitator dogs are broken, four beige teeth inside top of agitator part only roughly 4.99 to 29.99 and labor 65.00 - 95 labor depending were u live and who u use. thank you allbrandsappliancerepair.com
first you remove the cap on top of the agitator then you remove the inner cap then you use a long extension with a 7/16 socket to remove the bolt the agitator will pull right up
Hi, Do you know if the lower half of the agitator is working? THere is a dog kit that might need replaced in the agitator to get the top half to work. If neither half agitates, there is probably a transmission issue. Start the washer with no laundry in it and see if either sections of the agitator work.
I hope this helps you.
