SOURCE: stopped working - warning light on

There is an electronic circuit board on the motor that may have gone bad and will have to replaced, part # 06836740 and sells for around $75.00, for model S516. But if this a S316, then it could be the speed control mounted on the motor, Part # 04416342 and sells for around $83.00. Both of these models are Cat Naad Dog so you need the model number berfore you order a part.

Will it power up without the hose attached? If it does then you have a clogged hose. If not, there is a circuit board by the motor that may be bad.

Could be a problem with the cord. There also is a circuit board by the motor that could be the problem. Did you drop something in the hose to see if it comes out the other end? Because you could have a clog. Or just unhook the hose and see if it runs that way.

SOURCE: Electrical power down while vacuuming (not a reset)

Thank you JonahBegone!
My 4 years old Silver Moon has been power down off and on for a couple of months, but all of sudden it kept doing it. Then the power won't turn on when I plugged it in ( this turns out to be another problem, see my other posting). I took your advice on taking the hose and handle apart. I unscrewed the 5 screws, but can't pull the handle apart to look inside. I was able to see the 3 metal contact on the hose that you mentioned through a 1/4 inch gap when I forced the handle apart. I cleaned the black stuff off through the little gap by rotating the hose a few times. Then magically, my power down problem also went away. Thank you once again.

How do you read the "full bag indicator" on a Meile S7260?

typically if your vacuum is loosing performance it is time to replace the bag depends on how fine of dust some really fine dust will clog the pores at a 1/4 full

Machine running hot. new bag but red flag indicator is fully closed at stsrt up. Runs but overheats and shuts off and red reset light comes on

you may have a blockage in either the hose, the telescopic wand or the power nozzle/floor attachment. The easiest way to tell, as you have a new bag in there is to disconnect the hose and start the machine. If the suction is good there, start to narrow it down. Take apart the hose from the telescopic wand, take the attachment off and look through the wand. Look in the connection on the attachment as well. If not there, look inside both ends of the hose, you may need a flashlight for this, and see if there is anything blocking there.

If the hose is blocked, you can try to unblock it by turning the machine on and inserting the handle into the machine where the hose would attach to the unit. Sometimes this reverse of suction is enough to dislodge whatever is in the hose.

Good luck

While vacuuming my basement for over a half hour, the red light came on on the top near the speed settings and the machine felt real hot. I shut it off. Did it overheat and can I turn it back on after...

Hi Bonnie,

you should be able to restart the unit when it cools. I would like to also know how your suction is at the end of the hose, and down where the attachment is for the hose. Sometimes if there is a blockage the unit will also indicate that the bag is full even with a new bag. This will indicate as I suspect with your machine, that the hose, or the pipe to the attachment you are using is blocked up somehow.

See what you can find, If it is in the hose let me know. We can do something else to help you fix right away.

Good luck
Mark.

When turned on the sound is like its screaming. It appears to be coming from the filter compartment. It all seems to work ok.Thanks

I suggest checking the filter. If it's coming from the HEPA filter area, the filter might be out of position or possibly you have the wrong kind of filter. Miele uses 2 different types of HEPA filter so that could be the problem.
