Subject: RE: DVD stopped playing
Let the unit sit with the AC power cord out of the wall for a couple of hours. Then hit the power button 10-15 times (with the AC power cord still out of the wall socket!) and then try again. If you continue to have problems unfortunately it sounds as though it is within the electrical assembly. It is hard to say exactly what caused it or exactly what the problem with the circuits are.

I see RCA no longer has any manuals for that unit. But, is this the exact model number? I mean like I have an RCA DRC8335 VCR/DVD recorder, so I am wondering if it is similar? If so I could work out something for you. Email me at [email protected] if you think I can help with my manual.
UNPLUG the unit... put it in front of you,, unscrew the 2 screws on the side and 4-6 that hold the COVER only... take cover off.. the fuse is on the top left side.. check it if no good replace it. Thats it.. oh put the cover back on .
It could be because your unit is overheating. Shutting itself off is your player's way of protecting itself. Causes can be form anything to direct exposure to sunlight, Something heavy is on top of the player, to disk speed being to fast.
The front panel display and buttons are completely nonfunctional and appear dead. The unit will do nothing more than display the following messages on the TV screen:
Interface error (and or) Interface error! Turn off the power
If a DVD or VHS tape was inserted prior to the error occurring, you won't be able to eject either from that point further. They'll remain stuck inside the unit until you've completed the repair detailed below.
I feel you pain. My wife bought me this unit about two years ago and I wanted to transfer some VHS tapes to DVD but there was no rush to do this and besides I had another VCR and a VCR/DVD combo unit. I finally opened the box the other day and proceeded to hook everything up and I had exactly the same problem. The unit says "HELLO" on the screen but will not advance to "PLS WAIT" or "INITIAL." So essentially, the unit is dead since without doing the initial setup none of the buttons on the front of the unit or the remote function. I e-mailed RCA and received a response that stated, "Audiovox acquired RCA as of January 1, 2008. The transfer of parts and information is still in process. However we did not acquire this portion of RCA so we do not handle this product i'm sorry for the inconvenience." So in other words and according to what I've read on the internet about this unit it's a total pice of junk and you can't get any technical assistance about this problem or replacement parts. The only thing one person told me was to hold down the power button on the left side of the unit for 30 seconds and then unplug the unit and wait a few minutes and then plug it back in to see if it resets to the factory default. Guess what, it didn't so I've totally wasted $200.
