I just purchased an Emerson 1000W Microwave, Model #MW8115SS. I took out of box, removed the blue covering that protects the finish and when I plugged in and turned it on to heat something up, it was very, very loud, much louder then any other microwave that I have ever owned. Is this common with this model or do I need to take it back and get another of the same model.

The unit may be more powerful than your last one. if its probably is normal 1100 w is a lot of power. if it works well and you in joy it, then you will soon be used to the new sound of power Good luck DFD

I can't understand why anyone would just jump on anyone because of basic suggestions. 2 cut through the chase I FIX EVERYTHING!! & WHEN I removed the cover GUESS WHAT!! THE FUSE WAS BLOWN!! IMAGINE THAT!! I haven't tried to replace it with the same rated 1 yet. But I will as I HAVE IN THE PAST!! I'LL keep all concerned UPDATED!!
Buy a sheet of mica. It's cheap and easy to work with. Draw and cut a new cover from a sheet and replace the damaged one. There's a example of how cheap mica is (I just used a sheet like that today on my Miele microwave).
