You dont really need Windows Media Player to transfer music. As long as the device connects to the Computer, you can manually manage the music thru My Computer>Device Name. Just double click on the device in My Computer to view the contents. If here is a music folder put your music in there, otherwise anywhere on the device is sufficient. Best of Luck.

Try removing the battery and connecting it to the computer. If it is recognized, format it.

My Computer, right click on the device and select format.

    Best of Luck.

Hi saggy 1969...
Downloading Music to MP3 Player

1...You must download and install Windows Media Player 11 on your computer.
NOTE...Some older MP3 players will not work with Windows Media Player 11 or Windows 7 with Windows Media Player 11.
If this happens to you, then you will have to uninstall Windows Media Player 11 and install Windows Media Player 10.
2...After you have downloaded and installed Media Player on your computer.
3...Open Media Player on your computer.
4...Install all your music into Media Player that you want to install on your MP3 player.
5...Plug in your MP3 player to the computer using your Data/Sync cord, be sure that Windows Media Player is on.
6...Media player should recognize the MP3 player and sync with it.
7...After it is sync'ed with the computer, you can add the music you have installed into Windows Media Player to your MP3 Player.

Under windows explorer, click on the icon for the mp3 player. On the mp3 player, switch between the Usb and Mtp mode (The M button). You should see songs from both modes.

I'm have trouble downloading music videos and pictures on my mp3 player

First, make sure that you have run the installation CD. Second, read your user's manual. Windows Media Player is ised to transfer music and pictures, while the Philips Media Converter is used to convert/transfer videos.

I have written a lengthy tutorial on using Windows Media Player. Here are the highlights:
The instructions in these pages, which are largely links, pertain to Windows Media Player 10 and 11 only.

Windows Media Player is made by Microsoft. The general help page for Windows Media Player is:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/default.mspx

Through this link, you can enter a variety of search terms that will help you find what you are looking for (exs.: “add files to my mp3 player”; “delete files from my mp3 player,” etc.)

Important Vocabulary:

The code word for “mp3 player” in Windows Media Player is “DEVICE” or “portable device”

The code word for adding files is “SYNC,” “syncing,” or “synchronizing”

The code word for copying files from CD is “RIP,” or “ripping”

The code word for files stored on both My Computer and my Mp3 player (when it is connected to the computer) is “LIBRARY”

To add files (SYNC) to your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 10:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/windowsmediaplayer/wmp10/harrison_wmp10.mspx

To add files (SYNC) to your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 11:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/faq/sync.mspx

To delete files from your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 10:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/knowledgecenter/mediaadvice/0085.mspx#EDF

To delete files from your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 11:

My Directions:

1. Connect your mp3 player to the computer

2. Open Windows Media Player

3. Click on the icon of your Mp3 player on the left-hand side of the Library

4. Click on the Songs, Tracks, or other Music Folder

5. Find a song or songs that you want to delete

6. Left-click the song once to highlight it

7. Press the “Delete” button on your computer’s keyboard

To copy (RIP) files from CD to Mp3 player using Windows Media Player 10:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/windowsmediaplayer/getstarted/ripcd.mspx

To copy (RIP) files from CD to Mp3 player using Windows Media Player 11:

Music will not play

I managed to get this sorted by changing the default setting in windows media player from ripping the CDs as a wma protected file to a mp3 file.

Cant delete

Here's how you get it
you may have to open Windows Media Player but maybe not
a screen will come saying for you to choose either NO leave all the media on the device... or YES delete all media.
click YES but MAKE SURE you have the HOLD button on OFF. if you dont... it will not work
after it completes the task click FINISH

i tried for hours trying to figure it out and that made it work like a charm! =]
