Data missing Just got home from a 3 month trip and found that there is a chunk of missing pictures and video from the memory stick I had in my Sony digital video camera (model # TRV 22). The strange part of this is that the missing photos/video are in the middle of the trip. I have 1600 pictures that were taken before and after this large chunk of data. Do you have any idea what could have happened and how I might be able to retrieve the information? Thanks, Laurie

do not write anything to your camcorder's removable memory stick,otherwise you willt re-write the files and permanently lose your videos and pictures.
Install this recovery software called Tenorshare Data Recovery.
From inside the software,navigate/choose your memory stick letter( "D", "F", "G" ... ? ) and scan the section where it says "Raw Recovery", "Videos" or "Photos" . Scan the memory stick and Set the destination folder(folder where recovered files will be saved) somewhere on your computer.

It will show you thumbnails for your pictures that it found on your memory stick.
WARNING:there will be lots of recovered files,do not set the destination folder as your DESKTOP,otherwise you'll end up having 100000 files on your desktop... = total mess :)

You can recoverlost photos,videos from memory card or memory stick of your camcorder withthis
1. Do not save any new photos and videos into the memory card or memory stick.
2. Connect the memory card or memory stick with computer. You should see itshown as a drive letter (like H:) in My Computer.

to delete all your pictures, including protected images you need to format the recording media or memory stick.here's how you do it:
1.touch home to display home settings.
2.touch manage memory (4th icon to the right,at the bottom of the screen that looks like a toolbox).
3.under memory stick tool, select format.
4.touch format and a message would come up on the screen (All data on the Memory Stick will be erased"
5.touch ok to confirm.

The Error message C:13:XX indicates that the Camera cannot read or write data on the Memory Stick or an unformatted Memory Stick is inserted in the Camera or the inserted Memory Stick cannot be used with your Camera or the data is damaged.

1. Try reinserting the Memory Stick several times.

2. Format the Memory Stick in the Camera.

*Formatting a Memory Stick will delete all the data saved in the Memory Stick.

Insert the Memory Stick in the Camera, Turn ON the Camera. Press MENU -> Memory Stick Tool -> Format -> OK.

Picture quality depends on camera and photographer's skills.
Memory cared / stick will store data in digital form and thats all an it has nothing to do with picture quality.
So rest assured about memory stick and take good snaps in your trip.

I have meet a lot of people asking similar question. The answer is absolutely Yes. You can always recover the lost photos from your digital camera even you have formatted the device. Formatting won't make the data in your memory card erased permanently. The pictures you formatted are still in the disk of your memory card, just not accessible right now.

The best way to recover them back is trying some photo recovery programs. A nice one is Asoftech Photo Recovery that helped me before.

This program can deep scan to find your lost photos first and then perform recovery with nice quality. But before your photos are recovered, please don't take more photos in case your lost photo data are overwritten.
