If still interested in a replacement for the Ultimate Chopper - there is a website call TV Time Direct - website: http://www.tvtimedirect.com.
Their phone # is 800.238.7119. On their website, use the Quick Find option (upper right corner) - type in Ultimate Chopper and it will list the replacement listing for this item.
Without careful use and care, there is a possibility that the disc stem can become fused with the motor shaft. If excess pressure is being applied to the slicing or shredding disc, this can cause immense friction and cause the plastic disc stem to "weld" onto the motor base itself.
I would suggest calling Kitchenaid Customer Service to see what options are available.
Any of the disc blades require the use of the detachable stem. The official "Fine Grating Disc" (which doesn't normally come supplied with the food processor) is mainly for grating cheese, but the shredder disc that comes supplied with the food processor will do the job for you.
We had the same problem!
I was bending a 18" pry bar and couldn't move it!
Finally I tapped the spindle LIGHTLY and it broke loose and have had no more problems. I even bought $80 worth of replacement parts and did'nt use them.
The serivce center sold me the parts but the Tech refused to talk me thru installing them.
i am also having the same problem. it happened as soon as i got done putting in some parmesan and grated it. never happened before and i've got a few cups of parmesan cheese just sorta wasting away inside the processor. very tempted to break the damn thing open and just buy a new processor from a different company.
