Amana dishwasher makes noise

Amanda dishwasher recently started making a noise that sort of sounds like grinding. It does not do it all the time as it seems to be associated with certain parts of the cycle. It still cleans and dries perfectly but the sound is very annoying.

SOURCE: dishwasher motor makes like a grinding noise on start up

Hi. This grinding or hum can be associated with internal electric motor failure. the grinding and humming sounds are warning signs that will ultimately, lead to total failure. The actual term we in the industry use is A.C. hum. This will occur when the internal electric motor windings begin to break apart from the center housing inside the motor casing. this will disrupt the current flow, causing over heating. the grinding is because of the alignment that has been disturbed as well. The solution is to prepare for the replacement of the electrical motor or, you can repair it.

please rate and have a great day.

SOURCE: dishwasher making loud noise

Newer washers are designed with a food grinder inside to help grind up large pieces of food. What you are hearing is the grinder doing its job. You do not need to worry about the noise. It should go away after a while as the food particle is ground up.

My samsung dishwasher has a constant buzz that occurs during start up and lasts through all of the cycles. I saw where there is an electrical noise filter and did not know if that could be the cause.

No a noise filter is a different kettle of fish. That stops electrical interference noise from affecting your television, radios and electrical devices.

The most likely source of the hum is the start capacitor on the motor, or the motor itself.

This has a different idea

Humming or Grinding If your Samsung dishwasher makes noise when starting that sounds like a low hum, it's part of normal function. The motor makes this sound as it operates throughout the wash cycle. However, a dishwasher making loud humming noise or grinding sounds could mean that debris is caught in the drain pump.

This says the drain pump, but the drain pump only runs to empty out so it wouldn't do it all the time.

Its makeing a loud grinding noise

bearings are possibly going out on the motor. If the sound is like metal grinding on metal then that's the problem. To repair it you will need to remove the dishwasher from under the cabinet and flip it upside down to access the motor assembly. Take the model # and serial # to an appliance part supply for proper motor replacement. It isn't hard to do if you have the time. Make sure the unit is unplugged and the water line has been disconnected before any repairs start.

Hope this helped you
