Code E2 F3 shows on Whirlpool gas stove readout

I have a Whirlpool gas stove installed in 1/1997. I came home this evening and saw the codes for the first time. Called Whirlpool rep and they said I need a service call. Any idea what the condition is?

My Whirlpool Electric Oven (2000) had the E2 F3 codes come on when we were cooking a roast. I found that the elements were on full time and even with tha cancel initiated, it continued to heat with the door becoming locked.I was able to turn off all power to the unit and wait an hour to cool, in order to open door and retrieve burned roast.I will check the temp. sensor as described.

I woke up and went to the kitchen to a beeping noise and the stove was in self cleaning mode with The door locked and I have an E O F3 Error code.

  • stipplequilt Apr 11, 2009

After baking fine for an hour or so, the stove beeped and it displayed the E2 F3 code (Whirlpool gas range, drop-in style, circa 2005). This has happened one or two times before. I caught the roast before it was totally incinerated, but the oatmeal cookies were black rocks when it happened before.

This stove has been a nightmare. We had the electronics on the oven replaced under warranty, have replaced the oven burner before and now this. Of course, Whirlpool won't do anything because it's more than a year old.

Wisco, this is a code for a overtemperature. You want to check the temp sensor in the oven. You need to ohm it out. Should read 1080 ohms at 70 degrees. If the sensor checks out ok, then I would suspect a welded or closed relay on the control itself. Catriver.

Whirlpool GR396LXGQ oven comes on by itself & goes into clean cycle, code reads E2 -F3-

Whirlpool F3 faults relate to temperature problems in the oven. In the case of the error E2-F3, F3 is the general fault code and E2 is the specific error code. An E0-F3 error indicates that the oven's temperature sensor is open; E1-F3, that the temperature sensor is shorted; E2-F3, that the oven temperature has exceeded the maximum rated 575 degrees Fahrenheit in "Cook" mode; and E3-F3, that the oven temperature has exceeded the maximum rated 950 degrees Fahrenheit in the clean mode. Here is the probe to order.

The part comes with a 365 day, any part, any reason return policy.

I was using my oven to bake something ---when suddenly I heard a beep and saw the code F3 E2. I turned the oven off for a bit then turn it back on. the same thing happened. What does it mean. I have...

Sorry, it looks like your baking (in this oven, anyway) is over for tonight.

For Whirlpool ovens, F3 means that the main control circuit board is reading a temperature that is too high. The E2 code indicates that the temperature sensor has probably failed and needs to be replaced. It's a fairly easy fix for a service person, but you are probably not going to get the parts and/or technician before tomorrow.

Wish I had better news for you. Hopefully, it's under warranty!

Whirlpool Gas Range SF357PEKQ0 -- over heats; will not shut off; have to turn off at gas line behind stove. Error Code: F3E2. Is the replacement part I need the thermostat sensor? Is this part easy enough...

Hi lkanderson97,

This error code F3:E2 means that Oven temperature is too high (Cook mode). The only way to resolve this issue is to replace Oven temperature sensor (RTD). This part can be replaced by your husband. You may contact Sears for the replacement part at 1-800-252-1698; M-F 6:30 AM-10:30 PM - Sat 7:00 AM-9:30 PM - Sun 7:30 AM-9:30 PM - All times Central. Just get your model number ready when you call. Once you got the part instruction is also provided on how you'll replace the sensor.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.
