Installation I have a 6 month old packard bell computer with vista and have installed the software from logitech successfully for the logitech precision gamepad. Trouble is after i plug in the device as requested, windows does not recognise the device, or any other device, please help!

  • bennyboyzim1 Oct 06, 2007

Thank you very much for your assistance, it helps to know that we dont have to give up yet. You were right assuming my logitech precision gamepad is usb. Sorry about the lack of information. I followed your instruction re going to the logitech site and downloaded the drivers i needed, tried different usb ports (I have 3), but the problem is still there. I would agree with you that there is something wrong with the laptop, because all the devices were working before. Windows knows something is plugged in but doesn't know what it is. It crashed about a month ago, everything froze so i had to turn it off and on. But everything else works. I can plug my headphones in and use the dvd rewriter thingy also. Will the computer specs help you to help us? First, I'm going to assume this controller is usb and not wireless, blue-tooth, or gameport. Second, if you have a usb mouse or keyboard and it works fine, then its going to be that you need to find vista drivers for your device and install the drivers before plugging it in. If you have another usb device, try plugging it into the usb port and if it doesnt work either your computer is faulty or you need to update it. Vista is rather fickle when it comes to drivers and what not. Instead of windows coming out with the drivers, they let other people come out with them then they endorse those drivers. Try going to logitechs site, they are usually extremely helpful and easy to navigate. You can probably find drivers for your device easily. If you need any more help, let me know, I'll find you a few other solutions.

Well, did you try using a usb mouse in your usb ports? You can try talking to logitech as well, drop them an email and see what they say...and try dropping packerd bell an email as well. They may have information that I cant guess. There are some problems that they intentionally don't publish online. I also cant find tech info in forums online for your laptop...

Usually freezing doesn't end the life of your usb ports. Some times if you plug and unplug things out of your usb port often enough, you may loosen the solder. I had that happen to me before.

    Good luck!

I want to reformat PB MS2303

Packard Bell is a computer manufacturer, now owned by Acer. Restoring your computer will erase the hard drive and install a fresh copy of Microsoft Windows. This is beneficial if the Packard Bell is showing its age and running extremely slow or has been hit with an incurable virus infection. Before attempting to restore the system, be sure to back up any data you wish to save.

1.Insert the Windows Setup CD/DVD into the computer's optical drive. The disc will have been included with the Packard Bell computer.

2.Restart the computer with the disc inserted. A black screen will appear when the disc is detected, displaying "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD..." Press any key on the keyboard to launch the Windows installer. The "Install Windows" screen will appear.

3.Click "Next."

4.Select "I accept the license terms" and click "Next."

5.Click "Custom" when asked what type of installation you'd like. The other option is "Upgrade," but in order to restore your Packard Bell system to its factory settings, you must reformat the hard drive.

6.Click "Drive Options" when asked where to install Windows. Select the C: drive and click "Erase." Select the unallocated space after it has been erased, and click "Format." Format the space using the "NTFS" file system.

7.Click "Next" and Windows will begin reinstalling on the Packard Bell's hard drive. The system will reboot when finished and launch into your newly restored Packard Bell.

I am unable to use the hot keys on a Packard Bell keyboard (SK-2300H) installed on a generic PC running Vista. The PC sees the keyboard as a standard PS/2 keyboard. Some of the buttons are active. e.g the...

Your Packard-Bell keyboard was designed to work specificaly with your PB system. The old computer came (probably pre-installed) with software and drivers that map the extra keys to functions like e-mail, calculator, volume control etc. It may be possible to make the keyboard work like it did on your old system by locating and installing the Packard Bell keyboard driver and software. Go to the PB website and select UK-Irish support location. From there go to support section and follow the automated support by filling in info such as model number etc. No guarantee it will work but worth a try.

Did you try another available IO/SLOT on the motherboard? If so, go to the realtek website and download latest driver for that model number. Install audio card then update the driver using the new version. I hope this helps.

Install lexmark x4650 with provided CD,it wont print or connect w

Make sure the software you are trying to use is Vista compliant and even more so that you are not using a 64bit version of vista because a 32bit application will have issues running in that environment.

Will i be able to update an old computer to windows vista?

Hi,
Just download the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor 1.0 from

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=42b5ac83-c24f-4863-a389-3ffc194924f8&DisplayLang=en

Install that, and it will check your system to see if it will run on windows vista, and which version of Vista would suit the system you have.

Packard bell restore new Hdu

From parkard bell suppport website Quote

"Step 4 - Re-installing your software
Call the help desk and ask them to guide you through the

Please have your Recovery CDs to hand when you call

7. The process will take around 40 minutes. Once this is
done you will need to restart your PC. Remove the CDs
