Wont lock Sats

you have to be outside or in a non steel covered building to get a good signal, i have found on my tomtom that sometimes it would scan for sats for 2 mins and nothing, then i would shut it off and restart and then aquire the sats, there is a time in spring and fall when the sun interfers with the sat signal and you wont get anything for 30 mins

You battery is dead. Even though it is saying charging, your battery is not accepting the charge.

It isn't the sats. They're fine.

Try resetting the unit. Use a paper clip to press the button in a small hole on the bottom.

Try to reset the sats. To do this:

Tap the satellite bars in the lower right-hand corner.

Then, on the next screen, tap the satellite bars in the right-hand margin.

On the next screen, select "Configure." Choose a different configuration. Tap "Done," then "Done" again on the next screen.

not knowing what brand you have, most gps allow you to set your location then try and sync to the sats. have you tried that

To find software version press menu then select setup press enter select system press enter then press menu select software version press enter version 3.90 gave me problems so i downgraded back to v 3.70

charge the battery fully, then set it outside in clear view of the open sky. it may take as much as 30 minutes to acquire the sats if that fails, try and leave it out longer...does it appear to try and link to ANY sats. on the map screen in the top righ t corner is a icon with bars in it, tap that and you should see it trying to acquire sats. if not, you might have other problems

the set is hanging up, you have to open it try to clean battery contacts, also check for any moisture, just servicing is required.

If you are talking about a firmware update then that's involved. To find SATs choose the menu option on SAT refersh.

Briefly it has something to do with shutting the unit off while it was uploading software creating an error thus I think you will have to reload your software, check this site for specifics list your problem
