Question about Lexmark X4500 MFP Flatbed Scanner
Did you try to adjust the contrast button on the front left side of the unit? Also, did you here the power supplies fan come on when you plugged just it into the wall? And did the scanners internal fans come on when you switched the power switch "on" on the back of the unit. The other common problem I've seen is the cable from the operator panel to the MFD (the metal case on the bottom of the unit that houses the motherboard, hard drive, memory, etc.

Once you get this unit wokring I highly reccomend you go to http://support.lexmark.com/printerfirmwa... and enter "r109" to dowload the latest firmware. Then go back to that same page and enter "907306" to download the latest software for the unit. Both downloads include directions on how to update. The second download is big and takes a while to update the unit - about 15~20 minutes. If you need any help email me at jeremy (dot) houle (at) xtreemkreations (dot) com These updates fix issues like ADF lamp warm up timing (one of the biggest issues I've seen) and update the new "daylight saving time".

Interested to know if you got it running. I've also got a X4500 - from cold it takes quite a few minutes to initialise and warm up. I had a problem with a ADF lamp error but i found by locking and unlocking the scanner lock and restarting it a few times it finally got going and worked OK once warm and left running.
Very useful post above from harly4d!

Yes it sounds like you need the driver for this unit. http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?ccs=229:1:0:342:0:0 This page should get you what you need.
