First of all, let me appologize. I have a Averatec 4100 EHI laptop. The computer was only about 15 months old (outside the 1 yr warranty) when the hard drive failed. I replaced the hard drive, reformated, and installed all the drivers from the company- except for the wireless driver. It would not load into the computer. I tried down loading direct to the laptop and by copying the driver on to a disc and trying it that way.
I have spent 3 days now trying to get assistance from Averatec Tech Support, but since its out of warrenty, they will not even talk to me with out me paying before hand with my credit card. All I want to know is why their "free" driver download won't work- and I don't consider that question credit card worthy.
Do you have any suggestions? Is there another driver out there that I could down load which is compatable???
Thank You Soooo Much in Advance,
Alright I spent days finding this but it worked for me. I used the drivers for the Averatec 2100 series for WiFi drivers. All the other drivers for my 3200 series worked from the download site at trigem.com
After you've installed the drivers from Trigem, go to your device manager, find the yellow question marks. I did this quick so I can't remember what the options said but this worked for me. I think there should be one "Network Adapter." Right click and update driver. Choose the last option, I think it says select from list? Then you're prompted with other options, choose the last one at the bottom of window I can't remember what it says. You'll see an icon and next to it says "Broadcam 802.11" or something like that. Click on it then click next and it'll install itself and you should be ready to go. Hope this helps. I looked for answers online and got nowhere. Just happened and it worked.

Go online and type www.google.com In the google search box type: "Averatec Support" (without the quotes). Look for Drivers and Downloads and click it. Enter your computer model and operating system when requested. Download and install the Wireless driver.
You don't say if the system will still boot up, or if the Hard Drive is still intact or what happened that you want to restore to the factory settings.
If the hard drive is still OK, you may be able to restore the original software by pressing f4 repeatedly on a power up reboot, before the Windows system starts loading (a 3200 uses f4 on boot-up to access a hidden partition (D:?) on the hard drive which may contain the original system files and applications. The 4100 may not be the same.)
If you have modified the drivers, you may be able to restore the original drivers by going to "My Computer" icon on the desktop, and right clicking to open the "system devices" menu. There, you can open "properties" for any devices (hardware) that you may have changed, and try to restore to the previous driver.
If you need new (original) drivers, you may download them from:
The user manual for your system is available at: http://www.retrevo.com/d/ds/progress?doc=620637ea9665f6ec226b353b2ed6df5e&rk=0.5734748288133472
Other options, such as a recovery CD is available for a small fee at: http://www.user-guides.co.uk/cddownload/Averatec/Averatec4100/Averatec-4100-Data-Recovery-Boot-Disk-CD-For-Windows-98-548371.html (you have to follow the instructions to download a .iso image file, and burn it to a CD, which may be a challenge for you if you have not done that before).
If these options don't work, or you need help, provide some more information on what happened to your laptop and what is not factory any longer.
You will need to download the drivers off the averatec 3200 website and then install them. I checked and its a .exe file which means it should be very simple. If you have no internet on the laptop you will need to download them to a flash drive or burn to cd via another computer.
if you have the software cd or having the backup on you laptop just click the folder and open the averatec 4100 sound drivers if you dont know the path or file name . Right click the My computer icon and goto the hardware tab and device manager and see the sound, viedo and multimedia controller. see there is any yellow mark and no device found and click the scan hardware device. it will tell you to update or install the missed device driver now you can easily install the sound device driver. try it ,if it is not work properly, just inform to fixya.com
