You can download a developers version, not the final product of Songbird. It works just like itunes, but less problematic. It will allow you to "mount" the ipod as a disk, then you can save, the songs to your PC. It will ask you if you want to sync with it, just say no and you will be able to view the contents. I didnt make Songbird, I have just used it recently for the same problem. Best of Luck.

Question:I got a new computer and just installed iTunes 9.0 on it. This iTunes 9.0 is a complete new one. Now I really want to transfer this iTunes 9.0 library to my iPod. How could I do this, Anybody help?

Answer: Once you sync your iPod to this iTunes 9.0, of course the iTunes 9.0 playlist will sync your iPod, but all the old music on your iPod will be deleted after the syncing. If you want to sync the iPod without deleting the old music, you should get some transfer tool.

Step 2. Open the library/playlist that you want to transfer and click the "Add Files to iPod" or "Add Folder to iPod" button to sync an iPod without deleting the old music.

How can I delete old podcasts from my Nano?

You will need to plug you nano into your computer and open iTunes. Once iTunes has recognized your iPod, click on the iPods name. There should be a page with a picture of your iPod, at the top of that page there will be a tab labeled "Podcasts," click on it. On that page there will be a check box with a drop-down menu, this is where we will change your podcast settings. The drop-down menu controls which podcasts are synced to you iPod:
All - This will sync all of your podcasts whether played or unplayed 1,3,5,10 most recent - this syncs only the (x) most recently added podcasts to your iPod All unplayed - if you have not played the podcast yet iTunes will sync them to your iPod 1,3,5,10 most recent unplayed - syncs the (x) most recently added unplayed podcasts to your iPod 1,3,5,10 least recent unplayed - syncs the (x) oldest unplayed podcasts to your iPod all new - syncs all of the newest podcasts 1,3,5,10 most recent new - syncs the (x) most recent new podcasts 1,3,5,10 least recent new - syncs the (x) least recent new podcast
those last two are a bit confusing, basically if you add a lot of podcasts you can either get the (x) newest of that set or the (x) least newest (hope that makes sense).
The second drop-down menu controls whether those setting apply to every podcast, or only the ones that you select in the menu underneath that.jsimpsonjr_0.png

Changing computers

iTunes will let you transfer your purchased songs from your iPod to your new iTunes as detailed here
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848

For the rest of your iPod music, you will need to use a program like TouchCopy to copy your iPod content onto your computer or straight to your new iTunes. TouchCopy lets you copy all your music, video, photos, contacts, notes, calendars, games and more from your iPod.

To copy your iPod music using TouchCopy, you will need to...
1. Download and install TouchCopy on your computer. TouchCopy works with all iPod types and the iPhone. There are free PC and Mac downloads available from here
http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/

2. Ensure that iTunes is closed before connecting your iPod. Then start TouchCopy and connect your iPod. TouchCopy will have fixed your iTunes preferences so that iTunes will not sync music or video with your iPod while TouchCopy is running. These changes are restored when you quit TouchCopy.

3. Use TouchCopy to copy all your iPod content to your computer hard drive or straight into iTunes.

4. You can then use iTunes to re-sync your iPod, which will re-load your iPod with all your music and let you add new content to it too.

Ipod touch wound sync to my computer. i had a nano first. when i tryed to sync my ipod touch i did not reg. to my computer, i just tryed to copy my music to the new ipod. my daughter shares our music from...

Open iTunes (without iPod connected). Create a new playlist and copy songs you want on your iPod into that list. Next connect your iPod. Once iTunes recognizes your iPod then go to the music tab and click on 'sync playlist only' and chose the new playlist that you created. Click sync. Only the songs in your new playlist should be copied to your iPod.

Cant get songs onto ipod shuffle.(daughter has ipod touch)

Hi there,
When you go into the ipod section on iTunes, click the music tab, make sure 'sync music' is checked and 'selected playlists:' is also, then check the playlist you want to use. Click 'sync' button

If that don't work go back to the summary tab and hit 'restore' and follow the instructions to reset the ipod, resync and all should be fine.

All the best

Ipod won't sync to Itunes

When you wiped the old computer and then reconnected to the new computer, it reformatted the player, causing data corruption. I would try all five of these suggestions, but first try uninstalling and reinstalling all Apple/iTunes software: Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall, Restore Remember these five basic suggestions if you have a problem with your iPod nano. If one of the following doesn’t help, read on for solutions to specific problems. â Reset your iPod nano. See “General Suggestions,” below. â Retry with a different USB port if you cannot see iPod nano in iTunes. â Restart your computer and make sure you have the latest software updates installed. â Reinstall iPod and iTunes software from the latest versions on the web. â Restore your iPod nano. See “Updating and Restoring iPod Software” on page 50.
