Blackberry storm has random resets

My blackberry storm keeps, what appears to be, resetting. It goes black. After a few button pushes, it will show small clock icon in center of screen, eventually show white screen, which will show small blue line at bottom, like a loading bar, and then after screen returns to normal, check security settings. This happens randomly during the day, every day. Sometimes I'm in the middle of writing an email, and sometimes I just pick it up to start something.

I just got this phone about 1 week ago.

I have the same problem! My device when it shuts off like this displays deviceerror than shuts off. While I am typing and doing the exact same thing it happens too. Its frustrating because I got the phone in early December and the first time that it happened I was a bit surprised than it continued happening a lot of times after. I called Verizon and they told me I needed an OS update, but I already have the new OS system. They sent me another phone and this one has been doing the same thing since they sent it to me. I never complained anymore I just got fed up, but it is quite annoying and I am tired of the storm, I am ready to just get a new phone altogether!

I have the same problem!!! and verizon tells me they have not had any similar complaints. it is frustrating. and its my third phone. it happened on all 3. it takes like 5 minutes for the phone to reset. I loose any email that i was previosuly writing and have to start over. so as you can imagine its very frustrating, but other than that and the delay movements. i love the phone.

I have the same problem and the tech support at Telus told me they know about the problems of the Storm. I asked him when is scheduled the next update. He didn't tell me but said soon. I know that Bell has a new version out so I hope Telus will do the same soon and hopefully solve those bugs.

Remove suspicious apps one by one. If the problem remains after removing all apps restore the firmware to factory using the desktop manager. If the problem still remains there may be a hardware issue. If you're out of warranty there are Blackberry Repair Guides if you want to attempt a DIY repair, logic boards are on ebay.

My storm 9530 resets when connected to the PC. If i do not remove it it keeps resetting. How do i stop this so I can connect to Desktop manager

Try to upgrade your blackberry os, it seems your software not to stable after you entering your blackberry storm 9530 unlock code. Some times you will get some little problem after you unlocking blackberry phone. But it can be solved by a little upgrade software and some phones need to flash reset.

My black berry phone shows app error 523 with white screen and keeps rebooting what do i do it is giving concern

(IGNORE THE SIM STEPS IF ITS STILL ON VERIZON PLEASE)i had the same issue on my 9700!!! its either the sim or the software on the phone. DO NOT SELECT RESET YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR INFO!!! take out the battery with the phone on and take out your sim card. replace the battery without your sim card and see if the error still shows up. if it doesnt its your sim, super quick and easy most carriers will provide you a new one free of charge! if its does appear without your sim its the software. still fixable but not as quick. replace the sim & battery & power your phone on. you'll need a computer and the desktop manager which you can down load if you dont have it already from blackberry.com for free. then run the app loader. the storm has the blackberry 5.0 software and you want to make sure your desktop manager matches. follow the steps from http://www.blackberryforums.com.au/forums/bis-blackberry-desktop-manager/734-use-blackberry-application-loader-load-blackberry-device-software.html and you'll be set!!!

I have a blackberry storm. When I woke up this morning, I found an App Error 523 Reset on a white screen. When I pushed the reset button, my phone loaded, but then it said Uncaught Exception 8>=8 and...

HI,

I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything. If you have never installed the Desktop Software to your PC, then skip steps 1 and 2.

1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)

2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
  • KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software

3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:

  • Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchornizing via USB):
  • KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization

4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:

5) Install DTM to your PC

6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package

OK...next, follow this KB (including the other links within the KB) for recovery from the 523 error:
  • KB11816 Error "523 app.error.Reset" appears on the BlackBerry smartphone

Good luck and let us know!

So my phone randomly turns off and does a reset that is followed with a security check. I just got the blackberry tour like 4 days ago and I don't know if the problem is solely third party apps?

Do hard reset it involves physically removing the battery from the smartphone and then reinserting it. To perform a hard reset, follow steps
1) Remove the battery cover from the back of the BlackBerry smartphone.
2) Remove the battery, and then reinsert it after a few seconds.
3) Replace the battery cover.
If still the problem continues please reinstall the device software
