Car radio not working

Just bought an old Peugeot with the above unit installed, both the CD and radio were working until Sunday. CD still works but there are no radio stations any more. The display reads tuner but none of the previous pre-sets are there and the seek buttons to the right of the unit refuse to hunt for anything. Had a play with all the buttons (sorry!) but nothing at all on the radio side of things, not even travel news etc. Any ideas?

    I have looked for the manual on line but it doesn't seem to be posted anywhere that I looked. Even Sony's website doesn't list this model anymore!

    The display lights up fine and the selector button happily switches between sources (i.e. tuner and CD) its just nothing comes out of the speakers when tuner is selected. I wondered about the antenna but it was working fine when I bought the car two weeks ago and listened to the radio on the way home. Plugged a CD in for a few journeys and when I went to listen to my favorite sunday morning show nothing at all. Do you know how to pre-set the stations on this model? I wonder if the memory power lead isn't connected / wrongly connected thus the radio loses its stations when not used.

    It seems as if it is on `mute`, i.e can`t even hear static. I am able to switch the equaliser controls on , inc/dec the volume, but dont get any sound out of the system. Can anyone help?

Take the front panel off. There is a reset button, bpress it with a pen or other pointy object and it will work again.

Sound like you need the manual to this radio, I would have said that there are components inside that go bad that will cause a radio not to light up in the display area. But if you radio is saying tuner, and maybe cd then it would be the selector button that has a problem. Or no antenna is hooked up or come apart.

Sounds like the unit will have to be reprogrammed with the cars VIN number. Your Peugeot dealer can do this for you.

Peugeot 307 Blaupankt CD Changer IDC-A09
Hi, I know this is an old post, but I'll reply, so that other readers may get the benefit of my answer.

2004 was the year that Peugeot/Citroen changed from VAN bus to CAN bus wiring on their stereo's. If your car is before or early 2004 you will need the IDC-A09 blaupunkt in dash changer, which should just plug in and work straight away.

However, If your car is later 2004 onwards you will need the IDC-A04 Blaupunkt changer which will plug in and power up, but will not work properly untill you go to a peugeot dealer and they hook up some diagnostic software to tell the car a changer has been added. Both the IDC-A04 and A09 changers look identical.

I would say that you got the wrong changer, as the IDC-A09 changers in pre/early 2004 should just plug in and work.

Remember: Pre 2004 cars need IDC-A09 (plug and play) and Post 2004 cars need IDC-A04 changer (get pug dealer to reprogram cars computer)...its a costly mistake if you bought the wrong one!

Peugeot 406 cd player works when ignition is on but when engine is started cd player wont work. Radio is fine.
Just bought 2001 peugeot 406.The radio worked perfect but CD player not reading disk or operating.That was until I realised that the CD for driving safety will not allow you to put CD into it while driving or engine running.Switched off engine then switched it to 1st batt light position & CD worked perfectly.But when I then switched key off & then started it was back to not operating.I then realised that the CD player for safety will not operate when engine is running unless you let the CD start operating first pre engine fire then wait a little more time before starting .Now it should work properly though it will not allow even the passenger to change a disk while being driven. On disk change you have to go through the same start proceedure.Hope this will get your CD working.Sherlock ??

98 Deville casette/radio stereo won't play after swapping to CD/Casette/radio
Since the replacement is a different one from the one you are replacing, the car wiring harness is probably different from the one needed for the new radio. This is a really important difference if the new one is part of a Bose system and that is not the option installed in your car. The best way to check is for you to identify the option codes for each radio and go to alldatadiy.com and compare the wiring diagrams.

Installing CD Player in Peugeot 206
Hi dont know if anyone reads this still. First the finger tip control you have to rewire it into the new cd player with a Autoleads PC99-X26 - Peugeot 206 plus connection to your make of radio. Also the wireing problem some times is down to the red and yellow wires being the wrong way round swap them over and this should solve this.
