Are you using a HDMI cable? Push the SOURCE button & select the corresponding HDMI input with the HDMI input from your DVD player. The HDMI inputs on the tv should be numbered & you can then select the correct number HDMI on the source screen. Good luck.

2 symptoms; don't know if they're related or not. For some time now, when trying to watch a movie on my small screen Coby Portable DVD player, it will play just fine for about half the movie, then...

I'm sorry that the DVD player is not playing discs are expected. Based on the information you have provided, it appears that the Lens head of the DVD player is dirty. I suggest that you use a lens cleaning disc to clean the lens head and it should resolve the issue.

Thanks for understanding.
Please let me know if the issue persists.

What chanel do i put tv on to watch dvd movies

Hi,
You are trying to work out how to watch a DVD movie on your TV
The DVD should be connected to your TV with Audio Video cables.
And it will most likely be connected to AV1 on your TV
The easiest way to find out would be to
  • Put a DVD in the Player and press play
  • Now the TV is probably in channel mode, so find the button on the TV remote that says TV/AV
  • now press this button TV/AV and it will scroll from TV channel to AV1, AV2 etc until you see the DVD picture.

I hope this helps you.
If so please leave a vote or comment.

Have a great day

No longer plays color picture

Try the settings for "pal - ntsc - cvbs" video formats, if the tv and dvd aren't set the same, then this can cause the problem(usually with distortion to picture, depending on how it's mis-matched)

New lcd tv and dvd player is playing movies in black & white

1. Verify connections are color coded.

2. If they are correct, take out movie, press Play/Stop at same time on the front of the unit (not remote) to reset any settings that may have been changed.

Coby dvd player 536 only plays movies in black and white

it has something to do with your TV's video system and your player's video system...they should match...that is,PAL-PAL,NTSC-NTSC and etc..or if your tv has a multisystem then just set it to AUTO..

Dvd stopped playing in the middle of a movie...

I work for Coby technical support. Our customer service phone number is 1-800-727-3592.

Unfortunately, if the player will no longer read any commercial dvd that you attempt to play, the unit is defective and needs to be replaced. Hopefully, since it's brand new, you still have the receipt and can return it to the retailer for an exchange or refund. The unit has a 90 day warranty from the date of purchase. You would need the receipt in order to receive a warranty exchange.

If you feel this solution doesn't deserve a good rating, please let me know why so that I may better assist you. If there is anything more I can do to help, I will!

Dvd player, hd dvd movies

If this is just a regular DVD player, then no. You need an HD DVD player to play HD DVD discs. Now the HD DVD players should play regular DVD discs.
