Question about Lexmark Wheelwriter 1000 Typewriter

1 Answer

Beeps 6 times, lights blink

When I turn the typewriter on, it beeps 6 times and lights 1 & 2 start blinking. According to my user's guide, this means the printwheel and/or ribbon needs to be replaced. So, I replaced both and the problem continued. I then replaced the batteries, but nothing changed. I'm beginning to think the machine settings have been lost. Any help?

I have the same problem and I tried what is suggested. The black flag moves fine however the typewriter is still not coming on or printing. The only way to tell that there is power is the 1 and 2 lights are flashing on and off.

The prinwheel sensor is likely the issue.  Move the carrier to the right, on the left side of th carrier toward the rear of the machine there should be a small black "flag" sticking out of the carrier.  this should move freely in and out if it is not there or does not move the machine cannot detect the printwheel the sensor will need to be replaced.
You ca also check for debri down in the area where the printwheel sits.

I have an IBm Wheelwriter 5 typrwriter. When I turn it on the line space lights blink and I cannot type or get the casette to move at all.

How many beeps? Which Lights? Blinking together or sequentially? These will help to determine the problem.

Typewriter beeps continually and first and third lights from the bottom right blink when I turn machine on. Beeping stops after 30 seconds or so, but lights continue to blink and no keys work. I changed...

Be sure the printwheel id properly installed, remove P/W & check for dirt and debris in that area. If you have air in a can try blowin out that area.

The spacing lights

Check to see that the printwheel is properly installed, then check for debris in the P/W area.

Typewriter only beeps and lights blink. Nothing else.

the beeping and the lights are error codes, meaning the machine will need repair

The ribbon drive motor might be n/g. I think 6 beeps is the ribbon motor located under the gear on the ribbon cartridge.

No start up

If your WW3 has batteries it must have spell check or printer options there is a small door on the top right of the machine.

open the door and unplug the plug you find there and try it.
