After a trouble free period of almost two years, recently the washing machine developed the habit to keep the front loading door locked for at least 10 minutes after the washing cycle has finished. This wasn't the case before. The manual mentions such a problem IF the electricity fails, but this has not happened. The delayed opening of the door is a permanent problem.
We brought the machine from Germany to NZ and we have no customer service around. There is a minor difference in the voltage: 240 Volt in New Zealand, vs. 230 Volt in Germany, but the Hertz is exactly the same.
Any suggestions how to fix this problem? May be someone could explain how the door lock operates and which conditions could cause this problem (after it was fine for almost 2 years).
Thanks!

How washing machine door lock works how to test interlocks
Replace door lock.
When the washing programme is started by pressing the START/PAUSE button, the bi-metal PTC (contacts 3-5) is powered by the triac on the PCB (J6-2 connector): after 2 - 4 seconds, this closes the switch (5-4) which powers the electrical components of the appliance (only if the door is closed).
The door interlock prevents aperture of the door while the appliance is in operation.
At the end of the washing programme, the PCB disconnects the interlock from the power supply, but the door remains locked for 1 to 2 minutes (PTC cooling time).
Certain models feature a pilot lamp which lights to indicate that the door is locked. This pilot lamp switches off when the door can be opened.

Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. Error E50 indicates motor
fault, you’ll have to check the brushes and wiring of the motor and check if it
makes a hum sound, if it does and you can see that the motor is not working
then it is the motor that should be replaced. If everything else appears to be
working fine then it is the PCB that should be replaced. Please do accept the
solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.
Thanks
