Push menu then start mono (b/W) then 4x arrow-up button. maintenance should be displayed. What error code does the machine give to you?

Keeps saying there is a paper jam

Unplug the printer and open all the access panels. Using a small flashlight may help. Carefully check all areas inside the printer for a stray piece of paper logged somewhere inside. You may need a small pair of pliers or tweezers to remove the piece of paper.

When clearing jams ensure you find the entire piece of paper that was jammed in the printer.

When your done, be sure to securely replace all parts removed from the printer and properly close all the access panels.

I had the Bro 8840D repaired following a paper jam. I am unable to get it to pull paper through. Says paper jam, but no jam exists. The tech repair shop said a switch had been flipped when the first jam...

okay, try this...clear the paper jam message and try to make a copy using the manual bypass (MP tray) located on front of machine. if copy comes through okay, then chances are you have a problem in main cassette area. pull cassette out, and make sure the rear stop inside cassette is not pushed too tightly against rear of paper stack. should leave about 1/8" gap. if thats okay, then sounds like you may need your paper pickup roller replaced. sounds like your repair shop just fixed the error, not the cause of the error.

Keep saying paper jam

Hi Mesha
If it keep saying paper jam Then it maybe just that you may not see any paper in it but it only takes a very small bit of paper that stopping it or I would take a closer look inside, you may have had a paper jam before and it has left a small nit inside. All Best: Pineworks

Paperjam

Check whether the inside is perfectly clean - it might be that while you were trying to fix the jam, some paper was left stuck inside. Otherwise try disconnecting the printer from the power supply to allow it to reset.

Printer says it's jammed, but i took out the paper tray, took out the jammed paper, put it back in, now it won't work. it continues to say it's jammed.

If you did not get ALL the jammed sheet out, there is still a small piece of paper in there somewhere, probably covering a sensor or micro switch. Get a torch and look carefully. If youu don't find anything you may need to disassemble the printer to find it

My fax machine keeps saying there is a paper jam.

look on the bottom of your drum unit. there is a sensor opening that might have a tiny piece of paper in it, not allowing the sensor flag to reset. if thats not it, closely inspect behind rear door.

I have a brother MFC 8440

Have you checked the back paper door?, the paper tray?, and the drum/toner unit? If a paper was torn out of the machine, you may not be able to see the piece that is still triggering the jam signal. You can also pull down the paper guide around the orange fuser roller through the back door by pulling it gently to the left.
