I can't tell you how many times I've been asked, "how do I fix my vacuum, or my mixer, or my dryer, etc, without any description of what the item is doing, has done or won't do. You have given us some clues, at least, with the flywheel, coil, etc., trying to get spark.
Mike is correct about the spark plug, that should be the first part to be replaced, (new). And I, along with him, will probably have to assume you're talking about a small engine, as on a lawn mower. We will, most probably, down the line, need more info, such as a Make, Model, Serial #, etc. If you could supply those, it would be a great help. Corky

Does this motor have breaker points? They are usually the culprit, more than coils or even less flywheels, which have a permanent magnet. Always start with a NEW spark plug.

Lawn mower 6.5 that's getting very faint Spark. was left out in the rain so I clean the Magneto the coil I'm still getting faint Spark any help out there thank you

Clean the fly wheel and then check the points. The gap between the megneto coil and fly wheel is minimal. Also check the spark plug lead is clean also. Then get a new spark plug and it should work.

Why does my chain saw lose power and shut off as soon as it gets hot.can't restart until it cools off.

Check coil pic up or the electrical pick up in the pull string housing. Remove that and u will see the fly wheel next to that is the electrical pick up .look at fly wheel make sure magnets are clean surface ,they are in the fly wheel itself.after that remove coil and clean surface that faces fly wheel. Using a match book cover place it between fly wheel and coil ,make sure it moves but not falls out snug ,tighten coil screws and remove match book cover. If it dose it again re place coil look for small engine shop in your area and the can help get u a new one .weak spark means coil, sparkplug

No spark

The spark generator that sits close to the fly wheel only needs a mm gap. Make sure that this is the case. If there is a small gap there is possibly a break in the wire or the points under the fly wheel may also be rusty.

This engine is an old 8horse on a snowblower. it has no spark and the plug is good. so is the coil bad and is the coil the piece that sits above fly wheel, and does the fly wheel need to come off to connect...

doesn't mean coil is bad, may just need points and condensor. They get old and wear, old b/s part no. 299061 , these are under flywheel , and points cover. either replace points and condensor or try cleaning them with flex file.(temp. repair) points gap is .020. not sure of air gap of coil to flywheel. coil can be tested at most shops, You will be able to see if points are burnt visually. hope this helps.

Cutting grass.heard loud Pop tractor shut Cub Cadet 1210 Hydro

just trace the spark plug wire to the coil but you can check the spark by putting a new plug in the wire and make sure it is grounded and turn the engine over if you have spark then you have to pull the fly wheel off and check the fly wheel key

Dirt bike with no spark

I dont know how much you know about dirtbikes but you need to check the points. They are located under the fly wheel and they allow the engine to send a spark to the coil pack which then sends it to the spark plug. The fly wheel is under the side case, which is only held by a few screws.Once you get that off,the points,Which are under the fly wheel, just need to be cleaned off with a little sand paper. if that dosent help the spark then check the coil pack. The coil pack is the black box where the spark plug cable wire comes out of. look and see if its melted or broken in any way. If the coil is not ruined then you might need a new spark plug cable.
