Did this happen after a paper jam? Check and make sure you don't have any paper behind the tray. If that is not it, can you pull the paper tray all the way out of the printer? Check the back of the tray assembly. there is a connector, check to see if it looks damaged or broken. If it is broken you also need to check to connector in the printer to see if it is damaged also. If the printer connector is not damaged try a another like tray assembly either from this printer or another printer if you have one available.
