My USRobotics USR5461 Wireless MAXg Router, often loses its wired connection to the internet. I have 2 desktop computers and a printer plugged into the router, all via RJ-45 cables and sometimes, I lose my internet connection. (Although this router has a built-in USB print server connection, I have never used it because I thought the RJ-45 cable might be faster.) To fix it, I unplug the power supply for a few seconds and plug it back in and it is fixed. However, sometimes, I have to fix it this way several times a week...other times, however, it is not a problem for several weeks. I have been using this router for at least a couple years and now, it is starting to have this lost internet problem often enough to be a bother. Its really getting annoying...Originally, I thought it was my RoadRunner cable/digital phone modem and after resetting that, the problem still existed. Now, I don't even bother checking the cable modem because the problem has always been the router. Is it possible that this router is on its way out? What is the service life of a router like this? Should I buy another? Any ideas? Thank you!
The router u have is a bit old, a router can keep going good if u keep updating it.
to update your router first log in to router
1)open a internet explorer and in address bar type in 192.168.2.1 it will open the page for router.
2) select the tab device
3) select check for update
4)the latest firmware for this device is 3.93.35.0.9
5) if u have lower than this u need to update which would solve your problem
6)if update is available click continue it would download the file on to your computer
7) now click browse and select the file then click upgrade
hope this will help u
8) it shuld take a minute to upgrade
if u want to go for a new router this would be my suggestion

Thank you, deadman678, I'll give the firmware upgrade a try, first...before buying a new router. When I connect to my router page and check for an update for the firmware, I get the message that there is no update. However, after checking at the USROBOTICS web site, I see that there is an update, just as you mentioned. Thanks.
