Cannot log into internet after reseting the router

How to configer my router after resetting at the back of the router i am having problemes to log into the internet pls help

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

First I need to know why you reset it in the first place. If it was not working, then yes you reset. If it still does not working then its time to call your Internet Service Provider. Lots of times the problem is on there end, not yours.

Well resetting the button at the back of the router makes the router go to factory default settings. As such you need to configure the router once again as per your service provider's settings. If you already have the IP informations and the other informations. You can try to log into the router using the default IP of 192.168.1.1 which would take you to the router home page. You can configure the Router and save the same.Once done you should be good to go.

How to get user name/password for router

"The default log-in credentials for de Web Config Interface are "admin" for the username and the password you create the first time around. As with all routers, you can always restore it to default factory settings via the recessed reset button on its back."

Hi, I have been having problems with my wireless router. When I try to connect my laptop to the home wireless network, it says that there is a possible network security key mismatch. But the network key...

Can you still log into the router's configuration page and verify the key is the same?

If you cannot log into the router then you most likely have been hacked,
first step: remain calm.
second step: PANNICCC!!

No but seriously, if you can't connect via your WEP key or even log into the config site then most likely then someone near you has cracked the WEP key (very easy) and then re-configured your router to suit their needs.

(again this is speculation based off the fact I've seen this done tons of times, if you can still log into the routers config page then might have type the key wrong or something)

Note:
To log into your router you need to find its IP,
physically connect to the router and do an IPCONFIG and open the Default Gateway in the results in a web browser.
(Start then Run..., then type in CMD and hit ENTER, then in the command prompt type IPCONFIG)

If you cannot access the router at all you'll have to proceed doing a factory reset and then re-configure preferably with something other than WEP - copypasta of my factory reset tutorial:

Only way to bypass this is to perform a factory reset.

There is a reset switch (a small hole on the back of the unit),
if you press it once it just reboots the device,
if you hold it down (10-30s) it'll restore all settings to fresh out of the box.

Warning:
This removes ALL settings.

You'll then have to go back into the router and reconfigure all of your security settings.
You do this by logging into the router in a web browser (usually 192.168.1.1, you can verify by going to START then "Run..." and running CMD, then type in IPCONFIG, the router will be the default gateway)

The router will still have a default password to find this out you need to know the model of your router (usually the title of the login window or on the router itself), you can then just google "[model] Default Password" but they're usually just ADMIN/PASSWORD

MY DLINK 2730B WILL NOT CONNECT TO THE INTERNET i hconect to the have configed it once worked moved it wouldnt work put it back reset it reconfiged it internet light is still red will not connect to...

First try replacing the LAN cable between the modem and router. Hard reboot bother devices (off 10 sec then back on). Connect to the modem with a LAN cable to make certain it is working correctly.
The final solution is a factory reset of your router. You can do a factory reset by logging into the router using you browser. Go to the settings and perform a factory reset

If you forgot the router password, you ill have to do a factory reset by locating a small hold on the back of the router and insert the tip of of paper clip for about 10 seconds while the power is on. The router will be reset to out of box status and then you can set-up form scratch.

I need to reset my router's password. Can you help?

To reset your password you need to "reset" the router, either by pressing the Reset button on the router (probably on the back of it, with a pen as its a small button). Please note that sometimes you have to wait for like 15 secondes before it reset it! Also try at last solution, you need to press and leave that button pressed, unplugged completely from power, replug, still pressing...
Otherwise do you know you can access the "router config page" with typing like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 or 198.168.2.1 in your browser? (firefox, internet explorer...)
The thing is you seems to get confused, reseting the password will not help you preventing someone else using your connection via wireless..
to be secure you will need to:
-change the default login/password of your router config
-put encryption Wpa2 for the wifi
-put a proper complex passphrase (not like myteddy123, something hard and long like "z#~@'2g@rd3n!!"T3stPou.?".
-lower the broadcasting range settings if you don't it to emit the signals very far
-change the ip addressing of your network (ie change from 192.168.1.1 by default probably to something hard like 10.134.21.1)
-check regularly the logs if available in your router config page (192.168.1.1)

I brought a Laptop (acer) I need to connect to my network but I can't remember my password. How can it get into the router to see what it is. I've called Linksys but they want to charge me 29.99

there a reset button on the back to reset config. so you must have all the router config backup on paper.

to reset router:
1st the router manual, needed for config.
2nd backup router config.(on paper)
3rd press the reset button more than 5 sec. until all lights were off (except on)
4rd reed manual the steps for 1st time config.
then config router again, and test internet connectivity and wireless security level (WPA2), change all router passw every 30days or less.

Find my wep key

Oh, sorry I didn't see it in the title before. First, check the dirvers are properly installed for the adapter. Then if you don't have the wep key, connect by cable or other computer connected to your router (better by cable, as you can have restricted access to router setup menu from wi-fi). The WEP will be in WIFI config. section. If you cant log in to your router, try export the config profile out from another wifi connected PC and import it into new device wifi config software (if they support the same profiles). If nothing of this helped, you can still reset the router (find in manual- most often disconnect from power and push reset button for about 10 seconds) and setup WIFI with new WEP key. Don't forget to write the wep down. If WEP is not your problem but connectivity of the adapter to internet or network at all, describe the problem more deeply

D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DI-624 router access

'user' login is just read only, so you really cannot change any config.

so when you reset the modem have you tried to login with "admin" and the default password? if not try to reset it again, but pushing the reset button at the back of the router for a few seconds but before that search for the default password of your router in some search engine. like type in the model of your " 'router' default admin password "
