Maytag side by side fridge makes vibration noise

Five year old Maytag side by side fridge makes vibrations noises when the motor kicks on. Seem to be getting worse. Model # MZD2766GEW.
When you open the door or gently shove the side it stops for a minute or so. It is a regular occurance while years ago, not often at all.

Mine is a different model, and less than three years old, but the vibrating noise was really annoying. I would shift the unit or the door slightly, and it would stop for a while, as you reported. I took a few minutes, applied pressure to different areas, up and down, inside and out. The noise was louder near the floor. I removed the plastic grill and applied upward pressure on the wires covering the coils - it was loose. I noticed an accumulation of dust, and vacuumed as far as I could reach around the underneath area; also pulled fridge out and vacuumed a dust-covered vent on the back near the floor. Was planning to insert some kind of wedge under the loose part, but when I put everything back in place, the vibration stopped - now I only hear a gentle hum. Seems I did something right in this process.

The vibration did come back. I bought a small rubber doorstop from the hardware store and wedged it under the metal 'cage' on the bottom of the unit behind the grill. Voila! No more noise.

When it is lcooling it has now begun tomake loud vibrations.

it is most likely from the frame of the fridge that the compressor is mounted on vibrating on the floor
I use two door wedges ( available from the hardware shop and I push one under either side a bit to get clearance from the floor
the noise stopped but the problem is that there is nothing available on the market to replace the wedges
rubber buttons under the plate worked but to stop the noise they tend to make the fridge unstable when opening the door or the front of the fridge has to be adjusted up so that the door self closes
try that and if it works the you are on the right rack
if not you may have to get the compressor rubber mounts replaced as they may have collapsed and allow the compressor to hit on the plate

My fridge started getting really loud when it cycles on, and seems to have a vibration when running

If it ismaking a steady noise, the motor that runs the defrost timer may be making noise. I f the timer motor is making a loud noise, then you should replace the timer.Vibration noises are often caused by dishes or containers vibrate on a shelf inside.

Westinghouse virtuoso fridge is noisy after leaving the freezer door open several hours

Hi,

First analyze from where you are getting the sound.
1)Check the fan at the back side of the freezer. Is it making noise.Remove it and put some oil so it will rotate without sound.Check for the bending and straighten it and see it
doesn't hit on body.

2)compressor motor may vibrating a lot making noise to the condenser coils. It makes the full fridge to vibrate and makes noise.Adhesive stickers will soften them.If still problem persist coil could be damaged.

post a comment for further assistance.
Thank you for using fixya have a nice day:-)

Our kenmore fridge is really loud and as the mtor keeps comming on to keep it cool. It is a humming whining noise. The fan at the bottom back side of the fridge does not seem to be the problem. I think it...

simple answer to this is to get a spirit level and make sure it is square to the floor,in all directions.and put anti vibration pads under the feet.
Another "fix"is to replace the mounting rubber washers(if you can find some)for the compresor.have known people use rubber bands(NOT ME.)
lastly do make sure its not leaning against a wall.
or touching anything else(it will amplify noise).

Frigidaire side by side making a vibrating/humming sort of sound

When a fridge is first installed it is important it is adjusted to stand level and firm. If it was transported upright and hadn't been laid down it could then be switched on but if it had been laid down during transit or during installation it should be left to stand before switching on - some authorities say four hours and others say longer.

Failure to do either of these things can cause accelerated wear of the compressor and that could be the reason for the humming noise and vibration.

A friend has the same problem with his fridge and he freely admits it was never properly levelled. It began vibrating years ago for a short time when it starts but apart from that it continues to work quite well.

Just to be on the safe side of fairly sure, it would be a good idea to check the security of the compressor and fixings...

Blower fan in the freezer is making a vibrating

only if the fan noise is driving you crazy. the noise is probaly the motor starting to go out. you can replace it. it might save you money in the long run to replace it, if it goes out you could run into bad food in your fridge.
