The camera turns on for about 5 seconds then bleeps three times and turns itself off, i've tried changing the batteries and charging the samsung ones so i know it's not that. if anyone could help please do, i'm going to university in a week and really want it fixed for that!!
I had the same problem, but it appeared, when my rechargeable batteries died.. it just friezed while the lens was coming out. it came out abaout a half of it's length.. tried connecting to pc, different batteries, until pressed the lens a bit towards camera and then tried to pull it out a bit - and it came back again. It started to work. So I gues all of your problems has something to do with the lens.

Had a very similar problem, the camera beeped three times but no lens action at all. what i did was sparingly applied wd40 useing a q tip all around the lens circles with the camera lens face up and left it for ten minutes for the wd40 to penatrate, then here comes the tricky. part turned the camera lens down and as i turned it on i tapped the corner of the camera on to the edge of the table useing my mouse mat as a cushionand hepresto out came the lens and the camera turned on i cleaned allround the lens and all was ok good luck with yours

Try using alkaline batteries.. shop bought batteries such as morrison's own are generally very poor

I have the same problem; but it happened right after I accidentally used non-rechargable batteries after charging them. I'm looking for a way to reset the camera and see if this works, I also have no computer cable.

I have the same problem.
Also, when it turns on, the batteries are empty within 5 minutes!
WTF is this? Samsung doesnt even know this model, on their site there is nothing about the D73!
I too have the same problem and know of a frined who also has the same camera ... the only way I fixed it last time was to take it into a camera shop and they said to plug it into the PC for a while and switch it on .... this worked for another 6 months and now I cannot even get it on with brand new batteries for the PC to even recognise it! I am going to complain to Samsung online please join me as this is a nightmare ... I am on my holidays with the best sites in Australia and no photographs!!
same problem samsung have no idea must need some sort of reset also the batteries you have to use are limited and life span very poor mines out of warranty so it looks i have to take to a camera shop more expense
Also have a D73 its useless worst buy ever Batteries die instantly, even 2500 rechareables. Trying to strip camera at present!!

Well i think we have the same problem we've put lots of new batteries in and we must have more luck than most because at least we get to press the shutter button before it dies Oh by the way this is a replacement camera our first one did the same and went back to Makro
