Hi!! There's something wrong with my big screen tv. After a few weeks without using it ( i was abroad), everytime a press the power button a small green lcd bulb turns on (as normal)as if the tv is turning on as it should, but one second later it turns off again. This happens in no time for the screen to turn on. All i hear is a "click on" sound and later, a "click off" sound. This happens every time i press the power button. Could this be the capacitors? What solutions do you recommend me? Thanks in advance... John
Hi John This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input/device and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. MAY BE INTERMITTENT, SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK SOLDER CONNECTIONS AT CONNECTOR "DY" ON THE YOKES. 2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK C411 2200 UFD 35 V AND C412 10 UFD 50 V, BOTH LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB

If you are good at soldering and changing out parts, you can try it but be carefull not to damage anything else and do not solder bridge(waste solder across any part, because this may lead to set not working)MAY BE INTERMITTENT, SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK SOLDER CONNECTIONS AT CONNECTOR "DY" ON THE YOKES. 2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK C411 2200 UFD 35 V AND C412 10 UFD 50 V, BOTH LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB. Try this first.
You could call PTS-18008447871 and compare a board Deflection, to tech coming and repairing.

My 48315 just quit while I was watching it. I let it set off for about 15 mins. and tried it again and it came back on.

Hi Again!! And thanks for the amazingly fast answer.
I ran the Self-diagnosis feature, and it gave me a 2-3 set of blinks (Deflection protect: loss of vertical or horizontal deflection, according to your mail).
So, now that we know what the problem is, i have a few questions...
Since i have a little soldering experience, could this be solved by my own hands?. If this is possible, what do i need to change or do?
And finally, if the solution is too complicated in order for me to get trained tech to do the repair, how expensive is usually this problem?
Thanks for your support!..
John
I have the same problem with my Mitsubishi WS-48315 - no power. I pressed the input and menu buttons simultaneously and got the 2 - 2 set of blinks. According to your post, this = short protect. What does this mean? Is there something I can do to fix it, or do I have a serious problem? (With the TV, I mean. :-))
Have model VS-50705. Light flashes 3x. pressed menu and input at same time code 12 came up, would appreciate any suggestions?
thanks,
