Clicks but crt does not turn on

Sounds like a dry joint. I'd hazard a guess that it's in the PSU.

Seven blinks - High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits.
You must have through knowledge in electronics to proceed. This is a very skilled wor. You must have all measuring instruments, and ability to follow its schematic diagram.

If a standard set (glass picture tube) you have either a problem in the main power supply or in the High Voltage circuit which is triggering shutdown as protection.

What is the model number of your TV?

if you have to unplug it to reset it, that is a shutdown protection circuit trigger. you probably have a bad h.v. transformer. (flyback)

In most cases when I have seen this type of fault, the CRT was getting very weak. When the emission is below a specific amount, the AKG circuits keep it biased off.

It is also possible to have defective components in the CRT bias circuits, high voltage area, and the scan amplifiers that can cause this symptom. This type of condition is more rare to cause a flashing screen as per your description.

The TV making some clicks, and the red LED flashing is an indication of the power supply going in to the protect mode. This is usually from a scan amplifier failure, or a high voltage failure, a short in one of the circuit areas, and or a defect in the power supply itself. Proper troubleshooting is required to determine the exact fault.

My tv is a Toshiba. It comes on for a second and then goes off by itself. I use the remote and the power button on tv and the same thing happens. Is there a solution to this?
