Clicks but crt does not turn on

The Tv clicks and CRT comes on for a second before it goes into the protection shutdown. The LED flashes 6 times and sometimes 7 times. I checked the voltage accross IC501 as suggested in other posts and one of the votages is higher thatn it should be. thesymptom for the 6 LEd flashes suggest overscurrent and bad IC 504. I don't know how to meassure the voltage on the IC504 however as it has 4 prongs instead of three. My question is if there is something that may be causing this. Please help! I can offer you the Service manual for the KV series TV in return...

Red LED Light Blinks 7 Times Tv Wont Turn On PLEASE HELP!

Seven blinks - High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits.
You must have through knowledge in electronics to proceed. This is a very skilled wor. You must have all measuring instruments, and ability to follow its schematic diagram.

GE Guide Plus Gemstar. It keeps clicking when I turn it on. Clicks four to five times but never actually turns on

If a standard set (glass picture tube) you have either a problem in the main power supply or in the High Voltage circuit which is triggering shutdown as protection.

What is the model number of your TV?

Worked great for many years. Then without warning, no picture and audio stays on for 4-5 seconds; then clicks off. Unplug, turn on, and same thing happens. As if breaker switch clicks off.

if you have to unplug it to reset it, that is a shutdown protection circuit trigger. you probably have a bad h.v. transformer. (flyback)

No Power

Good Day;

Shutdown at Power Causes: Cause #1 This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input/device and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. SELF- DIAGNOSIS INDICATE X-RAY. CHECK FOR A SHORTED IC5A03 PART # 270P704010 AND AN OPEN R5A73 82K ¼ WATT OFF PIN 2 OF IC5A02 ON THE MAIN PCB. 2. SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR INDICATES SHORT PROTECT. CHECK FOR OPEN FUSES F9A04 AND F9A05 PART # 283P043090 ON THE +24 AND -24 VOLT LINES. IF THE FUSES ARE OPEN THE CONVERGENCE OUTPUT CIRCUIT WOULD BE SUSPECT. 3. SELF-DIAGNOSIS INDICATES SHORT PROTECT. CHECK FOR A SHORTED IC4B01 PART # 270P261020 (VERTICAL OUTPUT) LOADING 24-VOLT SUPPLY LINE. LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB. Good Luck, big IRISH.

Sony FD Trinitron

In most cases when I have seen this type of fault, the CRT was getting very weak. When the emission is below a specific amount, the AKG circuits keep it biased off.

It is also possible to have defective components in the CRT bias circuits, high voltage area, and the scan amplifiers that can cause this symptom. This type of condition is more rare to cause a flashing screen as per your description.

--

The TV making some clicks, and the red LED flashing is an indication of the power supply going in to the protect mode. This is usually from a scan amplifier failure, or a high voltage failure, a short in one of the circuit areas, and or a defect in the power supply itself. Proper troubleshooting is required to determine the exact fault.
