You would need to change the condensing unit (outside bit) to a larger duty, you would probably need to change the evaporator (inside coil) to match the condensing unit. You would need to install drain heater, door heaters and probably change part if not all of the control circuit. In short I would suggest not doing this unless you want to make a fridge guy a lot richer. I know fridges that can get to sub zero temps without help but I would suggest that you would be better off to buy a purpose made freezer as what would be required would probably cost as much and not look as nice. Hope this is of some help.

How can i convert freezer to refrigerator

Usually this can be achieved by changing the REFRIGERANT GAS used AND vice-versa [ie fridge-freezer or freezer-fridge]. IF your unit has twin compressors [as most modern combo-units do] your local Refrigeration Engineer should be able to do this for you. With modern compressors and Environmental Regulations this is NOT a DIY job ... ok [as used refrigerant gas must be safely removed and disposed of as directed by local Environmental Laws].

Convert the freezerator to the chilerator

Yes. If you can fit a fridge thermostat it will work. Better if it's electronic because you can control the differential so it doesn't short cycle the compressor, but I've known units go on like that for years!

What is the fridge/freezer capacity for the Amana BZ20RW?

I can't locate your particular model online, but you can figure the cubic feet yourself

Empty your refrigerator /or freezer to facilitate easier measuring. Measure the height, width and depth of the refrigerator's interior.

Measure in inches, and write them down.

Multiply the measurements this way: H (height) x W (width) x D (depth).

This is the interior capacity of your refrigerator in inches. To convert the number to feet, divide the number by 1,728. This converts cubic inches to cubic feet.

I hope this helps you. Thank you for using FixYa. Your rating of this answer is appreciated.

I have a traulsen freezer/refrigerator. Is there anything I need to do to convert it from fridge to freezer, other than adjust thermostat.

You probably will not be able to get much lower than about 28 degrees without having freeze up problems. A freezer uses different and more controls. Also, the compressor and expansion device may need to be changed. You need to do more homework on this as it could be a very expensive conversion. Let me know if I can help further.

Can I convert an existing refrigerator to a freezer ?

It's do-able but really not worth the money it would take to do it. You would most likely have to change out the entire refrigeration system (compressor, evap., and expansion device.) Then you would have to add some sort of defrost timing device and defrost heaters. This woud include an defrost terminator and fan delay device as well. Way too much work and money to get what you want.
I would try to shop around too see if you can pick up a good used one from a reliable source.

Good luck and hope this helps.
