We've got the same problem with our JVC GR-D33 Camcorder but it's the 11th of Feb 2008 and according to the notes on this site, the "free fix" deadline was the 31st of December 2007. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! [email protected]

My JVC GZ-MG27U does not come on, not matter what. I've been using it for about 2 years without a problem, when I use the battery nothing, i try to charge it and there is still nothing, its not even working with the electrical cord.

The only thing that happens is that as i'm about to put in the battery and the plates touch, there's a blue flicker and that's it.

Sounds like you have a broken Vcc (Capture chip) This fault is not user repairable, Check with your manufacturer if this item is within warranty, if so then the manufacturer should fix this for free, if not then you will need to have this serviced by a Jvc Service partner.

Apparently this same problem exists on many different models. I have a JVC grd72u. I called JVC @ 800-252-5722. I selected the "Corrective Action Program" prompt from the automated attendent. I spoke to a customer service rep. They are aware of the problem and are fixing it for free, but only until 12/31/07. I suggest you call ASAP and get your name in the computer. If the problem is something besides the CCD sensor, they will call you with the estimate to repair.

SOURCE: Jvc camcorder remove lens cap

Don`t bother to contact the JVC support. They will tell you that free support has expired in Dec 2009. I have the same problem to with CCD which is dead for good. Best solution is to buy another one from ebay . It is only 36 or 40 euros maximum (including shipping) and you can fix your self if you have enough knowledge or you can ask a friend for help to replace that CCD. It is not so complicated to replace, but you have to know basics of electronic devices. Good lock.

I HAVE FOUND THE ANSWER!
this is a strange method so bare with me (found the solution on another site)
turn on the camera and then hold it upside down then for want of a better word "tap" the camera near the lens (i tapped the mic in front of the flash) and hey presto your image will return!
dont ask me what this does as i have no clue, it might have the same error after you switch off the cam but just follow the same method and it will show images. or if your not happy giving your camera a slap then speak to JVC or any camera repair centre.
heres then link where i found this solution
