Cannon mp600 Not recognizing one of the ink tanks even though it's half full.

your problem is easy to solve.
Press and hold Resume button for at least 10 seconds, if that dose not work press and hold the OK button for at least 10 seconds. This procedure will bypass the ink level detector and will continue to print as before.

I have the same printer and the only ink cartridges I use are Canons own.
I've tried these cheaper replacement ones and zip nothing will not recognise them.
It is false economy as now I have a full bank of copy ink cartridges that charity will not even accept.

I had the same problem. My mp630 is also only 4 months old. I replaced all colour ink cartrdiges(inc black), but was only able to release the function for detecting the ink levels for magenta and cyan. Yellow and black then started giving error message U043, with them alternating between working, but never working at the same time. Getting them all clicked in with the lights glowing red does not solve the problem, as once the printer cover is closed, the same error message turns up. The only thing that worked for me is moving the chip slightly out of alignment, by pushing the sliding chip holder, and I only had to do this twice before they all started working and the printer was unlocked.

Reset Canon MP600 to the Factory Setting

1. Press the HOME button.
2. Use the Easy-Scroll Wheel or the right/left arrow to select Settings, and then press OK button.
3. Use the Easy-Scroll Wheel or the right/left arrow to select Device settings, then press the OK button.
4. Use the Easy-Scroll Wheel (B) or the up/down arrow to select Reset settings, then press the OK button.
5. Use the Easy-Scroll wheel or the up/down arrow to select Yes on the confirmation screen and then press OK.
6. Press the HOME button to return to the HOME menu.

I would try a new ink tank. They do go bad even though they have ink in them.

This is problem with the Bad chip on the inktank ,Check with new orginal one if it works ok Ask Cannon to replace the damaged intank.We had faced many OEM chip with fault

Same problem - two solutions I found helped me work out mine. One said contacts needed to be cleaned and it worked to use a Q-tip and alcohol or just click it in position several times until it recognizes the cartridge - this may work. Another said that they got it to work by installing a brand new cartridge - cool, but I have one full of ink it won't recognize. So I pulled the little circuit board off a used cartridge (like you need to do with some refills) and put it on the cartridge that it wouldn't recogrnize - works great. Still haven't figured out how to get it to acknowledge ink levels though. Canon really should be more consumer friendly since these problems seem to be intended to compel the use of proprietary cartridges.
