Hoizontal lines in images

My camera is 2 years old. 6 months ago horizontal lines began appearing in all pictures, particularly those in bright light. I've reformatted the SD card twice; once on the computer and once on the camera. Neither solved the problem. Can anyone help?

The problem is faulty CCD sensor ( this device converts light into image ) so faulty sensor means either poor quality pics or no pics at all. Have sensor replaced and camera will work fine.

"My camera is 2 years old. 6 months ago horizontal lines began appearing in all pictures" The problem is not the sensor as the first solution has been posted, the real problem is connected with the flat cable inside lenses that is broken. You cannot replace it, you can raplace intere zoom. The problem is frequently on this type of camera and direct connected with camera frequent use. The fixed and automatic diaphragm do not work bacause broken flet is broken and the sensor is receiving too mach light. Take the camera, switch it on then light with a flashlight the lens, you see a diaphragm movement or hear a click on the lens, if not the flat wire is broken (means microcut inside flat invisible without a magnifying glass). Most time same problem is present with no image on the screen because diaphragm is completelly closed.

My Z1275 has developed intermittent horizontal lines on the view screen when the camera is moved, and on images some times. Get good images if I use tripod and shutter delay. Looks like loose connecti

When having bright lights on a dark background, you can have horizontal lines. That is supposed to be normal. but the camera should give good pictures in bright light. Try setting the camera in automatic. most of the time it is the green camera loge on the mail dial.

We are getting hoizpntal lines on all photos taken, but in video mode, it looks normal. Doesn't sound like lens to me?

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check this link for more info.

Too bright picture with white lines in them

I suggest you to write a letter to Canon and to contact your local service dealer. After some struggling, they accepted the warranty claim and repaired my camera free of charge. The problem appeared when the camera was 23 months old.

Horizontal Lines throughout the images

My friend, I believe that that is a CCD issue. The horizonal lines and the interrmitent issues with the images are all related to a CCD issue that was notorious on the S-series camera.
Why the tech told you there is no CCD is beyond me, but all cameras either have a CCD or a form of the CCD and this is most likely causing you the issue.

eBay is a very good spot to find replacement parts!
