Picture in View Finder perfectly clear, but out of focus

When I am looking through the view finder during and after shooting it looks sharp, and focused. But, when I transfer the images to my computer they come slightly blurred or out of focus. Until recently the pictures were coming just fine in the computer screen. I have done everything I have read in the answers here. Maybe there is something I have not done?

I would check IS(image stablization) setting and continous shooting setting to make sure these features are turned off. You want to experiment with different IS settings and definitely turn the continous shooting mode because the continouse mode may not focus 100% in order to shoot multiple shots. Hope this helps. -James. P.S. In my case it was too difficult to distinguish the quality of focus in the VF or LCD so you may not see the focus issue on them.

Out of focus pictures when shot with view finder

I had a problem similar to this. Try taking off your glasses or removing your contacts and try again. Best of luck.

Your camera is equipped with a optical diopter that will allow you to adjust the optics in the viewfinder to your eye. meaning bringing everything into focus as it should. The way I use this (set it) is to let the camera auto focus on a subject and then turn the diopter until I see the subject clearly.
It really helps if the subject is about 12 feet away (get it real sharp) and the camera is mounted on a tripod. Once set I put a little dot of paper white out on the diopter adjustment knob so if it gets turned I know and can quickly return it to the correct spot. I'm including a diagram where this adjustment knob is on your camera, have fun.

Good day,

The problem you might be having is that the view finder is out of focus.
If this is the problem it is an easy fix.
You will see a small wheel next to the view finder (it has a + and a - next to it), look through the view finder and let the camera focus on an object. Now turn the wheel and you will see the image either get worse or start to come in focus. Adjust the wheel until you are satisfied with the clarity.

Please let me know if this was helpful!

Perfectly good photos but image in view finder will not focus Nikon D80 camera

Try adjusting the viewfinder diopter. There's a little dial just to the right of the viewfinder. Turn it while looking through the viewfinder. You want to be looking at an unfocused view or a blank wall. Turn the dial until the focus brackets are sharp. Make sure you do this with your shooting eye.

Adjust view finder focus as you will see setting there, to view correct focus in view finder itself.
Camera is just fine because it is taking good focus pictures.

Pentax espio 140

subaru662,
can you see the lens in the finder move when you zoom out? if not ,the finder lens is stuck.
if it does move when zooming, see if you have a diopter adjustment wheel or sliding knob near the front lens of the finder. if so adjust the lens to your eye.

Blurred image

The viewfinder image should look sharp & clear, as long as the camera is turned ON. If the camera is OFF, the viewfinder image will blur. At least this is how it works on my C2000z. If your viewfinder is always blurry, I would return the camera for exchange.
