My Toshiba laptop satellite A135 S4527 power cord do not conect propertly. How do I know if the computer or the cord is the problem before I purchase a new cord.
Take it with you when you go and try the new cord before you buy it , Toshiba's are Notorious for the charger cords to be crappy and also the port for the laptop itself to break and need repairing , witch you have to send it to toshiba to get done if that is the case
When the power cord is unplugged from the laptop, plug in the adapter in the power outlet and see if there is a short small spark that makes a faint cracking noise for a split second. If you hear this noise from the power outlet chances are the adapter is OK. If you don't, then get a light bulb that works on 12 volts or a LED and connect it to the adapter;s output. Best would be of course, to measure it with a voltmeter. Check the DC voltage on the adapter's label and see if it matches the voltmeter reading. If it's within 1-2 volt tollerance it's OK. If it's more, you may have a bad one.
To see if the laptop is OK, try booting from the battery. If it boots then it's OK.
If you have further problems booting the laptop, take a look at this http://imateski.blogspot.com/2008/08/toshiba-satellite-m35x-motherboard.html
