Philips 55" rear proj. tv...55pp9352

Just replaced ic's and worked for a few seconds and all of a sudden screen went black and there's a chirping noise . TV will power on

  • hd85anniv Apr 09, 2009

I changed my convergence IC's and two resitors.
I got all colors lined up and found the blue tube to be a little weak.
The problem that I'm having now is when I put the TV rear panel back on and turned TV back on the indicator light came on and then shut off.
I can hear the TV turning on but no video and then turns off.
    Please somebody help ASAP???

Screen is black while power is on with no sound but remote is working properly

If when you use the remote the volume, channel, etc options display on the screen then the TV is for the most part working fine...when that is the case the loss of video us usually outside of the tv - cables - cable box - etc

Bowed picture on Philips 55pp9352 after replacing IC's

You must have mishandled the ICs they are static sensitive, and unless you used Sanyo ICs then you will have problems. The convergence is obviously not working so the TV will need the digital convergence board repaired or replaced, also the PIP board is suspect I have seen plenty of these tvs and believe me I earned the $ 350 we charged. These sets are very difficult to work on even for a trained tech. the best thing to do is to have a repair shop do it and you will have the assurance that its done correctly, and the work is guaranteed, That makes sense. ( I will not be able to respond to any further inquires)

You shorted two or more pins when you soldered the STK chips into the TV. Re-Check your soldering.

Mine had the same problem. It turned out it was the power board that went out. The ic's might need to be replaced again, because they could get whacked out when the power board blows out.
