The lights flash when the door is not shut all the way, or the sensor that detects that the door is shut is not sensing the door is shut. Try pushing in on the door while hitting the start button.

SOURCE: LIGHTS FLASHING ON THE PANEL

If the reset procedure (those buttons you pressed) didn't work, it's because the machine is still reading a fault. It could be a few things... water temperature too low (indicating a bad heating element), partial blockage of the drainage hose, or something preventing the spray arm from spinning. If letting it sit for a while allows it to start again, I suggest you do that. It will stop again and the lights will start blinking. When it does, open it up immediately and see how much standing water there is. If there is a lot, look for a blockage in the drainage hose. That's the most likely, I think, because it makes sense that it would work again once the water slowly drained. If there isn't much water, then see if the water that is there is hot. If it's not, then it's the heating element. Checking for movement of the sprayer arm is a bit trickier, as it won't be moving while the thing is open. Though, if the first two are not the problem, there's a good chance that is. Or, of course, it could be a malfunctioning control panel giving false errors. There's really no way to test for that, unfortunately - but I don't think it's acting like that is the problem.

Kenmore dishwasher model #665 15872000 is stuck on time saver option for washing and I can't get it to switch to any of the other options such as normal wash

Similar Kenmore Dishwasher 665.18664000. Time saver and Quick rinse were the only programs that would run. I pressed "high temp scrub" then "air dry" then "high temp scrub" then "air dry" and the machine went into a diagnostic mode and counted down from 10 while running a series of tests. After about 10 minutes and various test cycles the machine reset and the "normal wash" light had come back on. If this doesn't work then you may have a problem with the controller which other threads have mentioned replacing yourself for about $120.

I have a Kenmore elite dishwasher. The Pots and Pans red light is flashing and the Heated Dry light is solid red. Nothing I do will change that. I've tried pushing any combination of buttons and ...

Hi

If clean light is blinking then it may be an issue with heater circuit, door switch or wash pump, please reset the power to the dishwasher. After, 5 minutes check if you are still getting the same error. If yes, then it is a water heating fault. To resolve this error try pressing this reset sequence-- Heat Dry - Normal - Heat Dry - Normal or High Temp - Air Dry - High Temp - Air Dry or Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry, Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry. Now let the unit run for 2-3 minutes and then you press the Cancel/Drain button and allow it to completely drain and reset. If this doesn't work then it's an issue with the wash pump not pumping the water past the heater efficiently or due to lack of water to heat. Please make sure that heater is not open circuited and is heating the water efficiently. You'll have to check the heater using a multimeter; the meter should read between 3000 to 3300 ohms (Use multimeter on Rx1 ohm setting). If heater is fine then make sure water pressure is optimum and fill valve is working fine. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

Kenmore 665 dishwasher blinking clean light

you'll need to enter a diagnostic mode, press in this order, hi-temp(sani-rinse)----heated dry--hitemp---heated dry... all lights should light, close door and let cycle for about a min, after press the cancelbutton, you should be good to go, the buttons on your model may read slighty different names, if this "toggle of buttons" does not work, you can remove thelower access panel and htere willl be a tech sheet/trouble shoooter behind the panel, in there it will explain how to enter diag/test mode

Kenmore Elite 8269645

I have this model, but not this problem (my impeller motor seems to have burned out). Anyway, try pressing Hi Temp Scrub, Air Dry, Sani Rinse, Air Dry, in that order and see what happens. Mine appears to reset and run through a set of warm-up tests.

Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher - Blinking Quick Rinse Light

I had the same flashing light problem first the normal wash flashing light then the others. I tried shuting of the breakers but nothing. I tried resetting the panel by pushing normal wash and heated dry simultaneously and nothing. So I took the six screws holding the front panel out and unplugged the ribbon type wires and plug and unplugged it several times to help make a better contact and I was able to get it to work right away. This may not work for all but I worked for me. It is very easy to do and it's worth a try if you're having the same problem. It took me less then 10 minutes.

Clean light flashs seven times, stops and then does the same over again.

bellman, on this model I believe you can clear the fault by pressing high temp scrub--air dry--high temp scrub--air dry in that order. Your normal cycle on this dishwasher is approx 97 minutes without the thermal holds, (pauses to heat the water to proper temps.) So of course it's going to go over 97 minutes. This is for heavy soil. Light soil, approx 89 minutes. Some models have a soil sensor, some don't. If the sensor is out of specs..it could add to long wash times. The heater may in fact be the problem, he needs to check it. The heater runs through the nuetral side of the door switch so you want to make sure the switch is closing and the dishwasher is level and secure. He also wants to check out the resistance of the thermistor, should read 48 to 52K ohms at aprox. 75 degrees. Catriver..post back.
