Hi,
If you are renting your home, contact the owner or manager. If this is a window unit it may have a reset button at the plug. You also need to check the main breakers in the breaker panel. If its a split unit, I think you should contact a licensed air-conditioning technician to check it out. Find the REPAIR SERVICE tab on here and find one in your area or check the YELLOW PAGES in your phone book under HEATING AND AIR-CONDITIONING. You might want to talk with a neighbor to find a good air-conditioning technician. Without further information, I cant think of anything else. Hope I have helped you.

The best I can tell u is that the smell is from a leak at the evaporator or connections. I advise to get another opinion because it sounds like a lot of guesswork. if u get the work done, make sure the work comes with a warrantee! I gave all my customers warrantees for 20 years. That's part of the diagnostic business! Good Luck If u don't get a warrantee ,don't get the diagnosis or work done
Peek inside the opening on the front of the inside unit. You should be able to see the blower assembly/fan blades. See if any of them blades are cracked, warped, or debris on them. If seen these minisplits mildew on those blades also, which will cause it to be off balance. If you move the fan to different speeds does the sound change? If its down that since day 1, its probably a defect. Hope this helps!
start off with the cheap possibilities and make your way threw. I'd start off with replacing Air Charge temperature sensor, make sure your AC Hose isnt leaking anywhere, if those dont solve it then replace ur AC clutch, last chance would be replacing AC compressor. sometimes the compressor will malfunction randomly. or the AC clutch might malfunction aswell. covering these steps somewhere along the line you will have working AC again! good luck
You likely have a defective expansion valve, recover the charge from the system and pull off the interior panels to expose the AC evaporator core and the expansion valve.
Start simple and try another adapter, I usually advise people when this occurs to take it to a local pc shop where they can do some very quick power tests right on the desk there. Trying another adapter is step one, then a test of the DC jack is step 2 and then on to the rest of the power circuit of the motherboard is more extensive and needs a system teardown.
