Six months ago, I installed and set up a Slingbox Pro. I ended up calling their tech support and we got it to work fine. Football season ended, so I haven't used it since February. Heading out of town this weekend, and turned on Slingplayer just to ensure it still worked. Naturally, it doesn't. Two hours on the phone with tech support and they're now telling me it won't work. They say both SlingLink receivers need to be on the same circuit. I say this doesn't make sense... it wasn't on the same circuit in February and it worked. Wireless router is upstairs in office, slingbox is in basement on the other side of the house. Can anyone help me??? I know just enough to be dangerous!
I had the same issue with the slinglink and decide to replace those with a new set of D-link gigabit powerline adapters (found a pair for $20 on eBay). Before replacing though, I would hook up a laptop to the slinglink and see if you are getting internet through it (run a speed test if you do). Slinglink might just need to be reset and paired again. In any event, Technology has come a long way since the slinglink, so you can't go wrong with upgrading powerline adapters for Slingbox or just for general use.

My suggestion would be to first disable any encryption on the router to make your wireless network simple first to try and troubleshoot these problems. check if any MAC or IP Address filters are active on the wireless router, you can either enter the IP address of the slingbox wireless adapter or its MAC address if you HAVE enable filtering, but again, try diagnosing without filtering or encryption enabled. Also ensure your slingbox wireless adapter has its settings set to 'automatically assign IP address (enable DHCP)' so it gets its address automatically.

just installed new slingbox but router does not autodetect it
tried all the resests but the network light just keeps blinking
Neither sling link is on a power strip correct? And no wiring changes in home? no breakers replaced that were normal before and now are the quickblow / GFI type?
Any new Dimmer switches? any new "noisy" devices on a circuit could cause an issue, but also just as likely is that something failed in the slinglink.
If you have any older wireless networking hardware, you might look to see if that could be set into Access Point mode, and then you'd put an ethernet cable from your sling into the wireless router (reset to access point mode) which gets you a wireless connection back to your home wifi router (assuming you have one, most people do now a days)
If trouble shooting only points to the slinglink as failed, they are 13 bucks on amazon, and even though they say "sling link" they're really just ethernet over power adapters. having an extra one means the ability to add ethernet in other places of your home.
Side note, if you go to Amazon, Sling Media's own blurb says: "They communicate over the electrical wiring in your home. SlingLinks installed in homes with older wiring may have slower speeds. **Each SlingLink must be plugged into circuits that connect in the same breaker box (most homes only have 1 breaker box, so this is usually not a problem). "
"same breaker box" not same circuit ;-)
