Question about Teac DW 28E CD-RW/DVD-ROM Burner

Teac DW-224E-c - cannot burn DVD's

Hello, I actually have a problem with the drive listed in the Subject header. The drive can burn CD's, read CD's and also read DVD's. Everytime I try and burn a DVD I have an unrecognized drive and the properties always show no disk capacity. The system is a Presario M2000 with 512 RAM and AMD Turion 64 mobile. The system runs Windows XP, Home ED version 2002 SP2. I have tried burning DVD's with SONIC and muvee producer version 6. Your suggestions are appreciated. Thanks, Steve

The answer is what you profess. The drive can burn CD's, read CD's and also read DVD's. Everytime I try and burn a DVD I have an unrecognized drive and the properties always show no disk: The drive burns CD's ie;music, but cannot burn DVD it can only read DVD like you say!

The Teac DW-224E-C is not a DVD Burner only a DVD reader.

No drivers are necessary. Check if the unit is properly connected (power and data cable).

Download VLC (google it) for free, see if that plays the dvd. Most likely your player has an issue, VLC plays ANYTHING (pretty much!) without issue.

If that doesnt work then you'll have a problem with the actual drive.

Completely dead, will not even try to read the disk. Device Manager says its working correctly, and the driver is correct.

First try a disk drive cleaner.

If still a problem, the only solution is to replace the drive.

hi no its only a CD RW, and not a CD/DVD-RW its just a CD writer and a dvd( rom )..read only memory which means it only reads dvd's but does not write them...hope this helps

My TEAC DW-224E-B Combo does not burn!

It is only compatable for CD RW.
Not DVD RW.

Can't burn data

if it is burning audio and video format it mean the burning is all right, u must choose some other application for burn data cd, like nero burning rom or alcohol etc.

Here's the newest driver for your burner. Go to Control Panel, then Device Manager, then click on the + symbol next to disk drives, and double click on the TEAC device. Click the Driver tab and press Update Driver, then choose the 'Let me find the driver' option, and navigate to the folder where you unzipped the file to. Double click and Install. Reboot.

For burning, I would recommend Nero, Alcohol 120% or ImgBurn.
