Don't insert the floppy disk in the drive until you are ready to actually do the writing to disk. If it still won't recognize that there is a design disk there, try re-formatting using disk manager - you will lose whatever designs are already on the disk, so make sure to save them to your hard drive using Windows Explorer first. You might just need updated drivers for your floppy drive. Try an internet search by searching for Husqvarna Customizing drivers, or something like that.
The software doesn't run on MAC. And you can't get a download directly off the internet, at least not anywhere that I've found. When I couldn't find my disk a few months ago all of my research told me that I had to purchase a replacement CD from Singer.
Unfortunately, there is no other disk. There is a patch available at www.Futura-support.com to try. If the laptop is actually spitting the disk out rather than saying it can't read it, your disk may be bad, not just scratched. You may need a replacement. See if it can be read by another PC.
That software won't work on Vista. I wish I had better news for you but the only way you are going to work with your #1+ will be to either buy the new software or find an old computer with windows 95.
I have not found anywhere to download a replacement, but you can order one. I found one here http://www.sewvacdirect.com/sing-fut001.html. I'm sure you can find them elsewhere if you run a search.
Disk Manager is part of Customizing software, in case you were wondering if you needed to buy more software. Ask again if you are having trouble locating it. You also need to format your floppy disk in Disk Manager before writing your designs to it.
I am pretty sure you can download Disk 100 free from the Husqvarna Viking website. This has all the embroideries that came free with the machine, plus the alphabets (I think!). You can download this direct to your PC or to a set of floppies, depending on what your Designer needs and what support software you have (or have not) got. If you have no Husqvarna software at all, your PC will not be able to read the floppy. It is in .shv format which PCs are unable to read, being an embroidery machine language only. If you are trying to open the faulty disk in your Disk Manager software, I always found it worked better if I didn't put the disk in the floppy drive of the computer until after I had already opened Disk Manager. Hope some of the above is useful to you.
