Unplug the dryer.
Take a putty knife and insert it at the top of the front panel just below the lid and push the 2 clips in.They are about 2 inches in from the right and left sides.
Raise the top lid towards the rear of the machine.
Remove 2 screws on the inside top corners of the front panel. Remove the front panel.
Remove the belt. Remove the drum.
The heater will be on your bottom left.

My Maytag dryer runs high heat on all settings. Even low heat runs hot. Model w10088770

Likely he heat element relay has welded itself closed (on). It happens. You may need to replace the relay. Dont know if that model has a replaceable relay as some require the whole control board $$$s be replaced instead of ~$15 relay.

Drum turns on a 19 year old Maytag but no heat just cool air tumble.Help, cannot afford repair or new dryer currently.

It is most likely the heating element or thermostat, and since it is 19 years old, you might want to change both. You can go to www.searspartsdirect.com and plug in your model number and then find the heating element and thermostat in the parts layout.

It is not difficult to change either part - JUST MAKE SURE TO UNPLUG THE UNIT!

Model DG713 Serial #388243ZXN It isn't getting hot anymore. Doesn't dry my clothes...I think it needs a new heating element?

You could be right libby. If you know how to locate it and remove it,,take it out and test it first,,dont just buy one. They CAN be tested. The element heats up due to a dead short of current,,just like setting a wrench on a car battery and touching pos and neg together. With a electric meter set to (contenuity test setting) Hold one test lead on one side of the element input, and the other test lead on the other side and if its a good element you will hear a steady tone from the meter telling you that the circuit is (closed) or,,being completed. If no tone then circuit is (open) and the element is bad.

Maytag dryer is not heat up. I think the heating

Hello, There are a couple of variations of the heating element, depending on the series number of your dryer.

Here's a link to the parts list and line drawing so you can verify the proper element you need.

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getSubComp.pd?modelNumber=SDE4606AYW&productCategoryId=0151200&brandId=3048&modelName=MAYTAG-LAUNDRY&diagramPageId=00005&componentDescription=REAR%20BLKHD,%20AIR%20DUCT,%20ROLLER&HTR%20(ELE)&documentId=M0510059&blt=06

If you have a Series 14 dryer, the element part number is #37001134, otherwise, there are a couple of other elements that your particular dryer might use, so check the model number and product tag so you can get the right parts.

You might want to check the element first, to make sure it is defective, before you order replacement parts, as it might be a faulty thermal fuse, which is much less expensive to replace than the heating element.

If you have a multimeter, you can check the fuse to see if it's failed. Be sure to turn the power off and unplug the dryer before removing the back access panel and checking the thermal fuse (see drawing in link above)

With the meter set to measure resisitance (Ohms) you can put a test lead on each side of the thermal fuse and if you get a reading showing no continuitity, then the thermal fuse is blown and needs to be replaced.

You can also check the heating element using the same method, again, make sure the dryer is unplugged before testing the continuity of the heating element, if you don't get a continuity reading, then the heating element is bad too.

I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

My maytag dryer heating element gets hot but motor will not run

Sounds like you have something shorted out.

The element issue could be a contact fused shut.
With both problems I would be looking for wires melted together, or a relay/sequencer welded shut melted etc.

You do have a potential fire hazzard here. If after removing the panel you cannot locate the problem, do not run the unit.

Heating element is getting red hot - like a heater.

No the first thing I would check is the vent going outside may be cloged the air going across the heating element should keep it from glowing real bright
