I have Visa, and I got my computer to recognize the printer and print. My only problem is when I attempt to use the scanner feature nothing happens. Not only does the scanner not scan the document but I get an error message regarding compatibility issues and then nothing. I would like to scan my transcripts and some other old work related documents that I have hard copies of to keep readily accessible for future employers. Help Please????

The drivers for Vista are included in Vista installation. This means that Vista does not need any additional software to install tthis printer.

If printer does not install automatically, then there is either a problem with Vista or a problem with the Printer.

You will need to go to the HP support site,
http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html
Find your specific printer, and download the driver for Vista. Should not be a problem after that.

I had the same problem. I could print, but not scan.

However, if you open up Paint and go to file and scan, it will scan your document. For some reason, using the scan button on the printer itself will not work with Vista, but using Paint will. I also heard that using Windows fax and scan will also work.

Connecting printer to Windows Vista Laptop

there have been many problems with vista with all kinds of kit.... The best thing to do is to go to the Lexmark website and download the latest software drivers for your printer, hopefully that will resolve the issue
