Question about HP DVD 740VI 16X16 Dual Layer LightScribe DVDRW Blk RTL (HPDVD704VI) Burner
I put in a disk, and the drive doesn't even read it, or see that it's there. I believe the disks I'm trying to use are of the "DVD+R" type. This drive supports both types, and I've used this exact make and model of disk before with no problems. When I fire up Nero to burn an ISO, or anything else to the disk, it won't let me continue to the burn process, because there's not any blank media in the drive...or so it thinks. My OS: Windows XP Home Service Pack 2.
I had the same problem. I went to the computer store and bought me a new IDE cable. As I was removing the old one, I discovered it was half way disconnected. It fixed part of the problem. The other problem I'm having now is slow burn in time. About in the 5000 min range.

I was about to say something BT I stopped and did a google search on your DVD. The results were vast but I think what they meant was to buy the correct DVD.......and not use any other one ....you have a look I got confused....http://www.amazon.com/dvd740i-Internal-Writer-LightScribe-Technology/dp/B000B6T3CO
