Boot from your WinXP CD and repair your existing installation. That is the component that controls security on your computer. When done with the repair and you can boot into your operating system again, you should do a full virus scan on the computer since there are several viruses that can cause this problem.

You have downloaded a program that has a malware and this virus has made changes to your system OS. Now the best thing to do is to remove the downloaded file, if you are not able to do this the OS must be reinstalled.
If the PC is responding then clean up all the internet history, browsing and cookies by choosing tools, internet options. Also try and restore the PC to an earlier date.

How to fix lsass.exe error

hello

for a simple fix, try this -- if not go to the next step

From your post, I understand that you cannot manage to boot or logon into Windows.
lsass.exe is a favorite target of viruses, and it's likely that a virus has destroyed lsass.exe while trying to infect your machine.
If you can boot into Safe mode (F8 during the boot), restore your system to an earlier system restore point. Then scan your disk using several anti-virus programs.
If you can't boot into Safe mode, try to boot into the Last Known Good Configuration (using F8).

If that also doesn't work, you should --follow these steps

How do you perform a reinstallation of Windows XP, sometimes called a repair installation?
Configure your computer to start from the CD-ROM drive. For more information about how to do this, refer to your computer's documentation or contact your computer manufacturer. Then insert your Windows XP Setup CD, and restart your computer.
1.
When the Press any key to boot from CD message is displayed on your screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD.
2.
Press ENTER when you see the message To setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the Welcome to Setup screen.
3.
Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console.
4.
In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement.
5.
Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP.
6.
Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup.

If you still have the lsass.exe error and your Windows keep restarting or you can't even open Windows anymore, its because the error has a small problem in the lsass.exe file itself. This is not a hard issue to rectify . In fact, it isn't really that hard to fix.

To get this problem fixed, you need to repair the lsass.exe file by getting a PC repair program. This program will scan your computer to detect the error and to repair it. Also, it will allow you to recover files that are missing and it will repair or delete the files that are causing problems to your computer.
This PC Repair Program will work- The PC REPAIRING PROGRAM works by an automated process. First of all you will have to start the scanning process while using this program. Once the scan is done, you will get a list of troubleshooting files.
It will also show the lsass.exe error file. Once you've spotted this file, you simply select the category and you press the repair problem button and it will start to repair the lsass.exe file. Once the repairs are done, you simply restart your PC and it's fixed.
This program will not damage any of your software programs already installed. It even allows you to create a backup file from your hard drive.
This software tool will also help you to detect other problems like viruses, worms, cookies and even pop-ups. This way, your computer will be cleaner and faster then before.

So, to repair the lsass.exe error you will need to get the Registry Easy program so you can start a scan, detect the lsass.exe file it's problem and start repairing it.

lsass.exe is probably located in the folder C:\Windows\System32. Known file sizes on Windows XP are 7k-33k bytes long .space.gif
It is a Windows core system file. The program is not visible. File lsass.exe is a trustworthy file from Microsoft. Program listens for or sends data on open ports to LAN or Internet. Therefore the technical security rating is 9% dangerous.

lsass.exe is harmless and if u kill it, it's likely to reboot or revert to welcome screen. two famous viruses are lsass.exe begining with an "I" or ending in triple "s"

lsass is a legitimate Windows object for user authentication but it is vulnerable to the sasser virus and can be HiJacked. Someone please clean up this place as at least half of the entries are worthless. it may be a trojan (form of virus) named SASSER

please rate me with 4 thimbs up

You can reinstall the entire operative system with the CD that comes with your laptop, or with the restoration partition. See user's manual. This is the best way to fix error in a PC. Before restore the OS, backup your personal data.

LSASS "Unable to Load Component" Error

I think because of the power failure, some parts in your hard drive are broken, bad sector may be.
So, when reinstalling, I suggest you to do full format, not a quick format. That way, the installation will recognize the place where bad sector is located, and will not put anything at that place.
Can not load component, usually because windows can not read from the disk.

On startup, i get the message: Isass.exe - Access Denied

Information on lsass.exe - http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/process/lsass.exe.html

Are you running a firewall (such as zonealarm)? It might be your firewall may be blocking a legit attempt by lsass.exe to run. You may have to add this to your firewall's allowed list. Of course if you are not running a firewall or if your firewall is already set to allow lsass you may have even greater problems.
