My camera is not reading the memory card. I cannot take pictures, nor can I preview the ones that I took. However it will read the other memory card just fine...
Can I retrieve the photos taken and if so how?

Re:
The memory card that has failed- do you have access to a card reader for the computer?
If not we will try to use the camera.
Download from www.konvar .com - PC Inspector.
This is a recovery program install it and follow the prompts to locate the card in reader or camera will show on the computer a new drive.
Then allow the camera to scan the card and you to select where any recovered images to go.

Sometimes files become corrupted. There can be hundreds of reasons. Your memory card, how small is a very complicated piece of electronics. Being a picture on a memory card is very scary. One error, just a spark of electric discharge, could damage the card, a part of the card or just some bytes on the card. Sometimes the errors consist of changing a 1 in a zero or a zero into a one, without physical damage to the memory card at all. So when the card should be formatted again, it could be you don't find any error again.
For that reason it is important you do put your pictures on a computer and from there make a backup. Never leave your important pictures on a memory card for the life of the camera.
Some errors on memory cards or pictures can be corrected with some recovery programmes, but not every error can be corrected.
Most probably a faulty memory card. Take it out and take a test photo without it, then see if you can see the preview of what photo you took that is now stored in the built-in internal memory of your camera. If that works, then you need to replace your memory card. If even that doesn't work then your camera needs servicing.
Have a look at the pins at the back of the memory card reader. You may need a torch to see to the back. My kids stuck something in my computer card slot and bent the pins so my cards would not read.
I believe it is your memory card... I hade one do that to me... From what I gather, the card can get a bad spot on it and if taking a picture and you hit that spot it will not take that pic and just say read error... I would invest in another memory card....
sience they are on your computer try to format the card with the camera. see if you still get the error if you do then try a diffrent card if the camera is still having the issue then you problem lies in the camera's card reader writer. and the main board might need to be replaced. this can run any where from 75.00 and up depending on the full issue. please if you need any further help let me know.
It is possible that the memory card was damaged. This would be by coincidence. Just in case only the formatting is damaged you can try to format the memory card.
As far as reading the card is concerned, if the Mac has issues to read a PC format then it will not be able to read the card from your camera.
Hey flowernthe, The error message “card cannot be read" means there was and error when the camera tried to access the memory card. To fix this you should make sure you are using the right kind of memory card, which for this kind of camera is a SD card, and it does not support SDHc cards. Since this camera uses SD cards I would make sure the slider on the side of the card is not set to the locked position. If this doesn't help I would make sure the memory card connecters are clean, and if they're not you can use a rubber eraser to clean them up. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Allan Go Ahead. Use Us.
