Waste ink full message coming on and I have to hit OK to print. I was told that this will turn to a waste ink full and my printer will stop working. I found the waste ink wells. Not much in them but I cleaned as best possible. Left side sponge had a pastic cover which I could not get back on. Need to figure out how to remove the lid on this printer so I can have better access. Biggest problem is that I do not know how to reset the timer/counter and no one wants to tell me. Shop will charge me $60 to reset and Canon sure ain't going to give it up.

How do you get to the waste ink wells?
I got the top lid of the MP780 off--just follow all the screws and the entire top comes off, though attached wires in the back right corner complicate setting the top to the side.
I managed to clean the pads simply by pulling them out of their containers, but since my printer's in pieces, I'd like to do everything possible and clean the wells.
This is a Canon PIXMA MP 780!!! Waste Ink Full Problem problem,
same prob for me-cannot find it on the web. Bigger secret than how many nucularr warheads the US of A still has!!!
And it's for an MP780. don't know how this website links this question to canon i990 printer.
